to have gotten matching head tattoos with DH?

DH and I, are definitely on the quirky side. We both got tattoos on our heads. Very similar, but mine is the female version and his is the male version. My mum never knew I was getting it done, tbh at 29 I wouldn't have said I needed her approval. I have my MIL blaming me and claiming that I have influenced her son into it. Friends claim that it looks ridiculous! All I want to know is WIBU? Surely as family and friends you don't have to just be damn right spiteful about a choice I have made, I mean it isn't illegal/hurting anyone. Grrr.

When we are old we will all be wrinkly and saggy. Well some of us will be wrinkly saggy old fuckers with tattoos, with colour and stories and memories. I know which camp I'd rather be in.

reminds me of this pic

I know I love that pic it's brilliant

squoosh · 23/06/2016 20:15

As for your tattoos OP, carry on and ignore the horrified relatives. You're grown ups! And as for some people's worries that you might split up, well it's not like you've got a heart emblazoned with 'Kevin' on your arm is it?

MiffleTheIntrovert · 23/06/2016 20:15

Squoosh I know what you mean, it's a bit like vintage style dresses and my (unreasonable) irritation when everyone started wearing black eyeliner in Amy Winehouse style.

And brightly coloured hair. Everyone in our playground seems to have pink or dip dyed hair. I feel like wailing "But I've been purple ever since you only had Directions dye and now everyone else is buying purple at Boots - not fair!"

Sallystyle · 23/06/2016 20:18

I have seen many naked elderly people with tattoos

Nothing strange about it at all.

Tummyclutter · 23/06/2016 20:26

I wouldn't go so far as to say most old people will have tattoos in 30 or so years!

It's like smoking, DD is 19, and she doesn't know anyone who smokes now. Fashions come and go, and basically that's all they are.
Out of interest, are the inks they use now better than the old men who had tattoos in the war. They all looked so faded you couldn't even see what they were any, ore.

squoosh · 23/06/2016 20:28

I feel your pain Miffle. Looking 'alternative' has become the norm hasn't it? The people who are dressing in your rockabilly style were probably wearing bootcut jeans and a fleece ten years ago Grin

I remember reading an interview with the actor Janeane Garofalo and she said that when she got her tattoos in the 80s it was a real counterculture move because tats were still the preserve of bikers and prisoners. And she's a bit irritated that now everyone and their auntie now has tattoos too.

Didyoumeantobesorude1 · 23/06/2016 20:30

Entirely up to you what you do with your own body.
And entirely my right to have an opinion - which is that they look vile.

squoosh · 23/06/2016 20:31

SnarkMaiden you remind me of that French supermodel Eve Salvail. I remember her skull tattoo causing a real stir back in the 90s.

It's not like you've got a ginormous penis and vagina tattooed on your foreheads. Even then, that would be your choice. You and your hubby have made a commitment to each other and have decided to honour it in a way you both want. I am so sick of people commenting on things that are none of their business!

Heyheyheygoodbye · 23/06/2016 20:34

OP I think they're awesome and they're in a genius place because if you ever regret it you can just grow your hair back et voila!

PezLeon · 23/06/2016 20:36

Fantastic! YANBU!
And if you ever change your mind or get a job where they are BU then you can grow your hair a bit to cover it.

I think they both look awesome though

If i was half as cool as her i would be well chuffed.

squoosh · 23/06/2016 20:42

She could do with a more supportive bra.

Tummyclutter · 23/06/2016 20:43

Well she obviously chose to spend all her money on her tattoos rather than a good bra and colour cut and blow dry!

CakeNinja · 23/06/2016 20:45

Um.... I'm not sure what to make of that Confused

NeedACleverNN · 23/06/2016 20:46

She could do with a more supportive bra.

Yes!Grin. Though I suppose she wore one as low as she could get to show off all the tattoos

squoosh · 23/06/2016 20:49

And if I'm going to be picky I'd say 'let's rethink the blue eye shadow and stone washed denim skirt'.

MagicMonkeys · 23/06/2016 21:03

Wow... At least you can cover it with hair

And she's a bit irritated that now everyone and their auntie now has tattoos too.

I'm in the opposite camp.

I had my nose pierced in 1979 when it was considered pretty shocking and mainly associated with punks. I was still at school and it caused quite a stir.

These days loads of people have facial piercings and I'm happy about it being normalised. It means nobody at my work bats an eyelid that I have facial piercings and I can wear a sleeper through my nose without judgemental 'tuts'.

dustarr73 · 23/06/2016 21:12

The pic i put up,that woman is no longer with us.And its a wig,she has dicks tattooed all over her head.Ha thats shocking.

KissMyArse · 23/06/2016 21:14

dustarr73

There's actually quite a sad story connected to that lady from what I remember.

She didn't get her first tattoo until she was in her 40's and was horribly exploited by some tattoo 'artists'. She had penis tattoos placed on her head by some of them which might sound funny but actually was a betrayal of her trust as she had no idea that's what they were planning to do.

I see she had grown her hair in that picture though Grin

squoosh · 23/06/2016 21:15

Ah you should have said that before I dissed her bra, eyeshadow, and skirt!

I hope she didn't have a bra related demise.
