to have gotten matching head tattoos with DH?

DH and I, are definitely on the quirky side. We both got tattoos on our heads. Very similar, but mine is the female version and his is the male version. My mum never knew I was getting it done, tbh at 29 I wouldn't have said I needed her approval. I have my MIL blaming me and claiming that I have influenced her son into it. Friends claim that it looks ridiculous! All I want to know is WIBU? Surely as family and friends you don't have to just be damn right spiteful about a choice I have made, I mean it isn't illegal/hurting anyone. Grrr.

I love them. I really do. Perfect for you and if you ever decide you don't want them on show, grow your hair and voila done

TheOliveTree547 · 23/06/2016 11:47

Fucking hell, some of you are rude Grin I think you find yourself far too precious.

Bill - this is the style I like and if you want to compare it to a kid's drawing, so be it. No, I didn't draw it, but my friend designed all my tattoos, and I love them. When my DD is a bit older, I'm going to get something she has drawn/written, I bet you'll love that Grin why do all tattoos need to be perfect and realistic art?? I like this style. I'm also happy with the way my head looks.

Also, why can't DH grow his hair? I'm not getting it. He doesn't have a bald head. I also didn't say my tattoos make me quirky. I'm fully aware loads of people have tattoos, but I was referring to other areas of my life.

Bill - where did I ask for opinions?? I never asked for opinions on the artwork

OT but what is a flesh tunnel that a PP mentioned above?

OurBlanche · 23/06/2016 12:01

But you did! Friends claim that it looks ridiculous! Bill and others are agreeing with your friends, and saying why they agree.

You probably only anticipated shock horror, scary/brave tattoo style comments. But I have to say that Bill's comments are not unfounded, the style of your ink is naive, uncomplicated. People seeing them are going to have that opinion as well as the shock and awe reaction you are more used to.

Your choice to have them, they are public statements and you will get public reaction.

MargaretCavendish · 23/06/2016 12:01

Also, why can't DH grow his hair? I'm not getting it. He doesn't have a bald head.

I think the point is that he could cover it now - but will he be able to in twenty years' time? Probably the majority of men aged 50+ have lost enough hair that it couldn't be entirely concealed, given the size of it.

lazymongoose · 23/06/2016 12:03

When I read your post admittedly I was thinking 'what a stupid idea' Blushbut after seeing the pictures, I actually quite like them, they look good Grin

whois · 23/06/2016 12:09

I don't really like them, I prefer tattos that are super arty, complicated and colourful.

But if you like them, then thats fine. They are on you, not me!

Anyway removal technology is getting better and better all the time...

spankhurst · 23/06/2016 12:09

You're an adult and you haven't done anything illegal.
I don't like them but I don't like 99% of the tattoos I see. And they are easy to conceal if you want to.

TheOliveTree547 · 23/06/2016 12:30

Our I wasn't expecting that, no. I didn't even post the photo! Someone asked to see, so then I showed. I'm not fussed if they think they're ridiculous, but I'm annoyed with my friends because they keep going on about it. Also, I think it's very poor to comment on someone's art like that. My chest tattoo is very complicated and I think the drawings are fab, as do many... To comment on how it looks like a child has drawn it, shows to me a bit of jealousy. Get off your high horse

Now tell us your height and weight stats and your dress size OP so certain posters can storm in to tell you you're only fooling yourself and you're a good six sizes bigger than you claim. Wink

Ignore the rudeness, OP. Wine

Mummylin · 23/06/2016 12:41

Your body , your choice. Personally I would not be able to have that done, I thought it was painful enough when I had my small ones done !! I think yours look fine,

AgentPineapple · 23/06/2016 13:05

Tattoos are very personal, it doesn't really matter if anyone likes them, as long as you like yours and your husband likes his. Some people are very against tattoos for a lot of reasons, but at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. I would get to upset if one of my friends of family said they didn't like it but I would be annoyed and upset if they continued to nag me about it after they had already made their opinion clear... My parents don't like tattoos but have never given me a really hard time about getting them or having them, although I know they think the ones I have are daft, but that's ok :)

AgentPineapple · 23/06/2016 13:07

That's supposed to say WOULDN'T get too upsetConfused

Serenitymummy · 23/06/2016 13:08

I love them, based on your haircut that I can see, it looks very 'you' so I wonder why people are surprised?!?!

Pootles2010 · 23/06/2016 13:13

Ha i love the thought that your mil thinks you're taking him astray - judging by that photo alone, he was never going to be a bryl cream and v neck kind of guy was he Grin

I actually really like them! As others have said, they are obviously very you, and kind of cute in an odd way!

MyCatWasRightAboutYou · 23/06/2016 13:16

Love them! I think they look awesome. :)

Sallystyle · 23/06/2016 13:20

It's true, your tattoo isn't a great work of art but that is the appeal of them for me.

I love a tattoo that is well done, my husband has one that is perfectly done and it's a great piece of art. I have loads, all from great tattooist who are capable of producing perfect tattoos but my personal style is more cartoonish. While I admire the perfectly done tats on others I always go for more uncomplicated tattoos for myself.

fanjodisfunction · 23/06/2016 13:22

It's your body, its not offensive. I don't see why people have a problem with it. Some people are just judgy.

Don't worry about it, you and your dh like them that's all that matters.

I have tattoos and well I don't give a flying fuck what others think of them , I got them because I wanted to. Don't need approval.

DisneyMillie · 23/06/2016 13:22

Personally I think they're awful but I'm a boring straight laced no tattoo kind of girl. Having said that it's your body and no one else's business - and I'm pretty sure your OH wouldn't have been bullied into getting one!

2boys3kids · 23/06/2016 13:23

I think that they are awesome. I love your style and individuality. Ignore moaners, you can't please everyone! As long as you and your partner are happy that's all that matters!

MammaBean1988 · 23/06/2016 13:25

They're grand, quite sweet i think actually! As long as you and DH are happy with them then everyone else can shove off.

I have several tattoos, and none of them are on my head, but it seems like a pretty safe place to get one as you can obviously hide it by growing your hair out if you want?!

Also, hats.

Also, your MIL is deffo the one BU. Your body, your head, your choices; DH's body, his head, his choices.

Snarkmaiden · 23/06/2016 13:42

Just thought I'd post my head/face tattoo, which gets overwhelmingly positive feedback.

Ignore the haters, OP. Mumsnet seems to have a visceral loathing of tattoos. Yours are gorgeous BTW, made me smile :-)

You're pretty. shallow

That head tattoo is going to look awesome when you're 80. You'll be Kick Ass Granny.

IRegretNothing · 23/06/2016 13:50

I suspect I'm missing the point here, OP But I'm really unnerved by your absent jaw. I don't like the idea that your skelly is incomplete after you've died. What happened to it? Shock
