School favouring daddy's day!!

WhereIsMyMothersDay · 16/06/2016 20:32

So school (private) tomorrow has a special morning for daddy and son at 7:30am to have a special breakfast together early enough so that daddy goes to work!
The Friday before Mother's Day they had a special 'lunch' with mummy and boy as obviously mummies don't work!!! Confused
It was super hard for me to take time off work and teachers gave me a funny look when I'd asked if all mummies were coming
Obviously though tomorrow daddies don't have to take time off as its early breakfast
AIBU to be bloody annoyed?

Have they said to you that this is the reason for having a breakfast event?

Extremely annoying.

Cabrinha · 16/06/2016 20:36

What kind of bollocks is that anyway, school dictating family life a bit there!

But yes, utterly shite the sexism.

Unless you're overseas and it's expat trailing wives ahoy and genuinely they're all playing tennis and getting their nails done all day whilst their husband works. (I work with a lot of men who have taken trailing spouses with them on overseas assignments - no offence to the wives because often they can't work (kids, language) so I'm not being scathing about the nails and tennis!

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 16/06/2016 20:38

Did they actually state Daddy's Day and Mummy's Day

Utter twats Grin.

WhereIsMyMothersDay · 16/06/2016 20:39

Yes they did tell me that's the reason : oh well most mummies don't work etc....

Maybe they had parents point out that lunch was completely hopeless and a breakfast would be better for getting patents in? I hope.

PPie10 · 16/06/2016 20:44

Maybe that is the reason then because more dads work at your Ds school?

fryingtoday · 16/06/2016 20:44

So get on the school committee and change it for next year

WhereIsMyMothersDay · 16/06/2016 20:47

I don't know if they thought it was hopeless, mums loved it and apparently they did same theme with dads last yearHmm
I mentioned I was annoyed to a couple of mums and got the same reply as school Hmm

I know I have to live with it, it's bloody hard though being a working mum of DC on a school that doesn't have many!

Needless to say again they gave me a funny look when I couldn't help out with some volunteering work they were doing last Monday midday. Told them difficult to take time off but I received that look again!

YANBU.

Buckinbronco · 16/06/2016 20:48

Yanbu AT ALL. They are assuming dads are busy working and mums either aren't doing anything or can stop whatever they're doing in the middle of the day is frivolous and easily dropped. Sexist pigs

But surely your husband does the actual earning. Don't you just have a little job for pin money?

Buckinbronco · 16/06/2016 20:52

It doesn't make more or less sense than 7.30am. Why is lunchtime more sensical?

BumWad · 16/06/2016 20:54

YANBU would really piss me off too.

WhereIsMyMothersDay · 16/06/2016 20:56

StealthPolarBear we both earn similar!

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2016 20:57

WhereIsMyMothersDay · 16/06/2016 20:58

PPie10 · 16/06/2016 20:58

But if the other mothers themselves are supporting this theme then it's not entirely the school's fault is it?

PuntasticUsername · 16/06/2016 20:58

No, the school SAID that's the reason (that "most mummies don't work"). In their opinion. Not fact, necessarily.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2016 20:59

;)
sadly I was being sarcastic but so many people think that in seriousness

WhereIsMyMothersDay · 16/06/2016 20:59

EatShitDerek and because more dads have a 'real' job than mums we are to be discarded?
