When people use the expression "making love"

Makes me want to vomit on the spot, puts my teeth on edge & it just sounds, so Mills and Boon

AIBU?

It's as cringe worthy as the word hubby!

I'm obviously in a minority as I prefer the phrase 'making love' to many of the alternatives. 'Having sex' just doesn't sound right. At least it's romantic.

Crikey OP I've just read your latest post about the woman at work - you are so definitely not being unreasonable, not one bit!

It's awful. It's 2 people (or more) rubbing their genitals against each other until they get off. Let's not over glamorise it.

If someone told they they were going to "make love" to me, my junk would close for business.

See I think you are all wrong. There is fucking, having sex and making love and they are all different. The latter is rare and tbh a once a year thing. Whereas having sex happens several times a week and proper fucking at least once a week. [oversexed, clearly]

Anybody else got the none-too-subtle euphemisms of the two guys who say "ooh, suit you sir!" going round their head???

Trouble is I don't know how to link to Youtube Halo.

It knocks me sick! No need for it. Just have sex.

I think making love is gentle, sensual, slow and romantic

Fucking is going at it ravenously

Shagging is fucking till your out of breath and look broken

Having sex - is the polite clinical way to explain it, like to your doctor for instance

I like them all.

"I'll make love to you
Like you want me to
And I'll hold you tight
Baby all through the night..."

Anyone else got Boys 2 Men going round in their head now?

In my experience the sort of man who says "making love" is often the sort of man who wears "slacks" and calls knickers "panties" [Barf]

Cutecat I'm glad someone else just gets nudged Grin I was starting to think I was the only one who gets the wandering hand.

Also there are definitely some strange ones in the past I would say I slept with as it was neither making love or fucking because it was so dull...

I had a bf who used to ask Mr nice or mr nasty, with a raised eyebrow. That still gives me tingles thinking about it now.

Previous dp never initiated, like 3 times in as many years, max. Sigh

Sauvignon do you not talk about it with your friends?

Ach, I don't mind it. DP says it with such a dirty inflection it's kinda sexy.

My general means of initiating, though, is to exclaim "Goose, ya big stud, take me to bed or lose me forever!"

lilacclery · 13/06/2016 20:41

Hate it and dh uses it all the time, he's insulted if I refer to it as when we had sex.

Report
AmberNectarine · 13/06/2016 20:44

It's hideous. Could be worse though, my DH had an ex who would ask him if P wanted to pay V a visit.
