But more and more and more since the recent DM shite I've noticed 'hun'ing creeping into over half the threads I click on.

It makes my teeth itch. I always want to say something but I don't want to be that arsehole.

I don't know why it annoys me. I'm not a snob so it's not that. It's just so bloody twee.

I haven't noticed it that much but I have noticed it a little bit and definitely since the whole DM crap. It's fucking annoying tbh.

They do it a lot on the Facebook selling sites too. On the rare occasion I sell on there, I always want to say "I will not sell to you because I am not your sodding hun!" But I grit my teeth (that are also itching over it). So no flaming here!

I've really noticed it too and trust me on this - I have to sit on my hands and spend five minutes with my eyes closing humming a calming mantra. It is such a shit word that doesn't even mean what the 'hunner' thinks it means and worst of all - WORST OF ALL - complete strangers seem to think they can address you in this way.

Can't say I've noticed it too much on MN (however, I'm not on here all the time) but it does get on my nerves on other sites, like our local community and selling sites. Lots of Huns, Babes - makes me run away screaming. And on F/Ache - the 'Feeling Blessed' and 'Hubby' (and a new one, Hubbo). Gaaaaahhhhh! I've only just recently joined Facebook to go onto the local community selling site and find old friends from years ago - it is useful for that, but those words and phrases are really already getting on my nerves, more than you could imagine. Not sure how long I can endure it.

The Hun is how my DH refers to Germans.

I think it became hun because hon might be pronounced "honn". I hate it though. But not as much as I hate "hunnie" or "hunny". Yuck.
