About huns?

I'm fully prepared to be told that I am VU/a snob/a fucking cunting bastard etc.

Fully prepared.

But more and more and more since the recent DM shite I've noticed 'hun'ing creeping into over half the threads I click on.

It makes my teeth itch. I always want to say something but I don't want to be that arsehole.

I don't know why it annoys me. I'm not a snob so it's not that. It's just so bloody twee.

I accidentally say "like" quite a lot. I have done since about 1995, probably. Maybe since watching Clueless? I hate lmao. I assume this means "laughed my arse off". Is this even a saying? Or did someone just decide to go one better than "laugh my head off". I don't mind the occasional lol, but only if it's in reference to something funny, not "Hello lol" for example.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 07/06/2016 20:28

I can't even count correctly! WTF is wrong with me?

Thisismyalias · 07/06/2016 20:28

It just softens a sentence, makes it sound a little less harsh

No, it really, really doesn't. It's stupid.

One of the reasons I object to it is because it is often an 18-19 yr old person addressing me, at 57, as Hun or Babes. It just makes me want to slap you. Sorry, but it does.

Just5minswithDacre · 07/06/2016 20:30

This place is so weird sometimes.

Smile So understated Umbongo Smile

meditrina · 07/06/2016 20:30

MN as a community has its own community language.

The end of that, and anything else that marks out viperish from unMNetty, weakens the community.

It often happens after an influx.

I think it would be a shame if MN changed too much. A major change to something as fundamental as the language would be a pity.

So bring on the cunts!

Just5minswithDacre · 07/06/2016 20:30

I do wish all the hun adherents would adopt the spelling 'hon', though.

Catzpyjamas · 07/06/2016 20:31

Feeches, that's what comes to my mind when I read it.

UmbongoUnchained · 07/06/2016 20:31

just5 it seems mumsnet hates me today. Can't say a single thing right.

WellErrr · 07/06/2016 20:32

Just5minswithDacre · 07/06/2016 20:35

Just start a thread talking some random bollocks Umbongo, then you'll get to steer the madness Smile

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 07/06/2016 20:38

Do all you lot see the 'huns' as a purely class thing? Or is it regional? Or a term for the young?

None of the above, just plainly deluded.
