I'm fully prepared to be told that I am VU/a snob/a fucking cunting bastard etc.

Fully prepared.

But more and more and more since the recent DM shite I've noticed 'hun'ing creeping into over half the threads I click on.

It makes my teeth itch. I always want to say something but I don't want to be that arsehole.

I don't know why it annoys me. I'm not a snob so it's not that. It's just so bloody twee.

Oh yes, the new moonfaced emojis with the little fat hands rubbing the eyes.

i could happily strangle whoever uses those.

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 07/06/2016 20:55

*I hate that fucking crying laughing face emoji, in fact I hate all the emoji that are not MN ones.

Fuck off with your wanky phone emojis.*

Yes!!! I hate all the strange emojis that are now making appearance. Why, back in my day it was this SmileGrinWinkShockHmmConfusedBlushAngrySad or nothing!

Summerdreams · 07/06/2016 20:55

But why can't they say hon ? As that's how it should be surely Hmm

Like in the Right Hon Chardonnay?

Not quite the same.

NeedACleverNN · 07/06/2016 20:56

If you wanna Hun.. Head over to netmums

AnnieOnAMapleLeaf · 07/06/2016 20:57

Summerdreams hun, hon, hunny....doesn't matter a jot, they are all equally awful.

Notthebumtroll · 07/06/2016 20:58

"Lenor for letters"

sniggers

EmmapausalBitch · 07/06/2016 20:58

YANBU. I hate hun. And Babe(s). Also hate Em, or even worse, Ems. Emma is not a difficult name. Fucking use it.

flowerfairy · 07/06/2016 21:04

Hate hun in RL as well as on here! Have friends who use it and just sounds so false, aaahh!

BigPurpleCake · 07/06/2016 21:07

I love being called 'lovely'!

But then again I don't mind 'hun' so much either.

And I actually do 'xxx' quite a lot.

andadietcoke · 07/06/2016 21:07

Yes! I've noticed.

I'm particularly sensitive to 'hun' on the grounds that my name is Hannah, and it's often shortened to Han, so I often spend time wondering whether someone has called me Han (acceptable as long as I know them well-ish) or hun (never acceptable. Ever).

Summerdreams · 07/06/2016 21:08

But I still wanna know who changed it to hun surely if your gonna say it say it right but I don't think I've ever seen hon?

puppydogmummy · 07/06/2016 21:11

Hun means something else here in NI not nice Shock

shiveringhiccup · 07/06/2016 21:13

The Hun is how my DH refers to Germans.

This is either very racist, or if you're talking about the 'hun xxx' meaning then very annoying.

Itslikeyoureadmymind · 07/06/2016 21:15

"Hun" is a sectarian term in NI as a derogatory word for Protestants. Same word, different meaning.

I am indifferent to it, although it's a bit irritating.

I much prefer cunt. Grin

MissRabbitHasTooManyJobs · 07/06/2016 21:16

I stopped dating someone due to every text ending in Hun Grin arse...

BathshuaSpooner · 07/06/2016 21:16

I know someone who refers to her vagina as her "cunnie". Kinda hits both marks.

weebarra · 07/06/2016 21:17

Cunnie sounds a bit Elizabethan though. I'm Scottish so I think of the word Hun in a different way.

littlemonkey5 · 07/06/2016 21:19

I have a Little Man (DS3) and a Big Man (DS2) when they grow up to be adults, they will be men....... [shrugs]

But when your 3yr old picks something off the floor and you say "thank you" and he replies with "you're welcome", what else is he?? lol heart melts

I hate being called love. I call my sister hun, I call my very close friends hun. I have an extra close friend but she is not much younger than my Mum, so calling her anything other than her name would be wrong!
But then again, I know these people in RL. Saying to a stranger or to someone on the internet is weird!!!!

ABCAlwaysBeCunting · 07/06/2016 21:19

I also judge the huns, especially combined with text speak.

PaulDacreCuntyMcCuntFace · 07/06/2016 21:22

There has been an increase in hunning of late. Also the use of 'x' at the end of a post; which is beyond the pale.

I can't understand why people do it? On the end of every frigging sentence!

Had a great day and feeling blessed! x
Ooh, what's going on? x
Great news that my genital warts have now cleared up! x
Aww hun that's fab news. Well done babez xx

PS. Strikethroughs are fine in moderation. You'll have to prise the creepy wee brackets out of my cold and dead hands.

Brummiegirl15 · 07/06/2016 21:23

YADNBU - does my head in!!!

Cannot bear the following

Hun
Huns
Bubba
Bubz
Hubs
Hubby
Hubz
Hubster
Lil man
Ickle man

What the ACTUAL fuck????

Yes, I judge!!

EnidButton · 07/06/2016 21:25

There's more !! around too. MN broke my ! habit so I've noticed the recent influx.

purplebud · 07/06/2016 21:26

It is a bit twee. It's like wrapping every comment in a little pink bow or giving a virtual head pat. I've heard my colleagues and friends use 'hun' - but never to me!
