All PIV = rape??

Stumbled across this article...

witchwind.wordpress.com/2013/12/15/piv-is-always-rape-ok/

Seems not only to be strongly arguing that all PIV is necessarily rape, but is incredulous that a feminist could think differently! AIBU to think this is bonkers or has the virtually the whole population of women (who don't think this way) just been brainwashed?!

OP posts:

This is my favourite part from the link in the OP -

The fact intercourse causes so many infections and tears and warts attests to the unnaturalness of intercourse, that it’s not meant to be. The vagina’s primary function isn’t to be penetrated by a penis but to eject a baby for birth. They are two muscle tissues / sphincters pressed against each other to help the baby be pushed out. Penetration of the penis into the vagina is completely unnecessary for conception.

Honey I have something to tell you and that is it is very difficult to get pregnant to make more women for your commune without a PIV, it is necessary! it's also fun too

Why can't more people see this for what it is - an extreme weirdo which does not represent feminism and the rants of someone with a chip on their shoulder?

DioneTheDiabolist · 24/05/2016 14:33

Has anyone considered that this woman is mentally ill?
Yes. It was mentioned at the beginning of the thread. And I agree, she does sound unwell.

GarlicShake · 24/05/2016 15:13

Thanks Bird.

oliviaclottedcream · 24/05/2016 16:05

Agreed Dione. Either mentally ill, or suffering from Victim Mentality Disorder (VDM), which is the same thing - possibly?

Ooops sorry Mumsnet Blush

AHellOfABird · 24/05/2016 16:38

Indeed, Buffy.

Women are suffering rape, violence and death at the hands of men, day in and day out. Not women who have committed various crimes but ones are sadly in a bad Relationship or family protecting its "honour". And there's no euthanasia but, often, protracted and violent death by beating or similar.

Young women post puberty are often effectively banned from gathering in a group at schools in some developing countries, owing to menstruation, thereby limiting their chances to be in the educated group.

As pew previous posts, I do not agree with witch wind's alternative vision.

.

LurcioAgain · 24/05/2016 16:41

Nodding in agreement to both Garlic's and Buffy's recent posts.

The "moderate Muslims must publically disavow ISIS before I will enage in discussion with them" attitude is, to my mind, racism plain and simple, because no-one ever starts a political discussion with a white person by saying "Before we start, can you just publically disavow the actions of the EDL? Then we can talk about funding of the NHS (or whatever)."

And likewise, as Buffy says, so many of the things Witchwind describes in her blog are things that have actually been done and continue to be done by men to women (if we're on comparisons with ISIS, lets just skip the comparison stage and move to what they actually do: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/2623217-ISIS-handbook-for-sex-slaves) - female infanticide, sex specific forced abortion, fgm, sexual assault...

GarlicShake · 24/05/2016 16:43

Yes, Buffy.
I started writing a list of the most widespread and well-known violence (often deadly) that is enacted against millions of women & girls all the time. It was so horrible that it felt unnecessary to post it, and feared people would accuse me of hyperbole.
Yet it is reality. Now, today, tomorrow and next week. It's all happening.
But when a woman experiments with thoughts of turning the tables, it's outrageous and sick.
Who's calling all the men - and compliant women - sick and mentally unwell? They are actually doing it, not writing about ideas of doing it.

So, yes, I think we need to have our 'bubbles' popped every so often.

user1463231665 · 24/05/2016 16:49

I think it says more about posters than the blog being discussed that they suggest the writer must be mentally ill. Everyone who wants to silence someone (usually men silencing women) then says oh she must be mad to say XYZ; she's got hysteria; lock her away).

It is pretty clear PIV sex probably fairly non consensually half the time is what is natural for most humans and animals. That doesn't mean it should be acceptable in our time.

corythatwas · 24/05/2016 16:59

"It is pretty clear PIV sex probably fairly non consensually half the time is what is natural for most humans and animals. That doesn't mean it should be acceptable in our time."

Sorry, I am struggling to make sense of this passage. Does it mean that non-consensual PIV sex is not acceptable in our time. Or only "fairly non-consensual" PIV sex? Or PIV sex as a whole?

Given that studies seem to show that the majority of women do not orgasm during PIV sex, this clearly means that some women do orgasm during PIV sex. So are those women wrong for enjoying that? And what about other sexual practises which do not cause both parties to orgasm?

GarlicShake · 24/05/2016 17:16

I thought user meant the unfettered 'natural' human would engaged in forced PIV half the time on average, with the other half of PIV being mutually consensual.

I don't even know if this is true, as we have no unfettered humans to ask. It's a common assumption - invented, I believe, by male Victorian anthropologists - but isn't especially well borne out by observation of other primates.

In any case, I agree with user that 'natural' rapey behaviour isn't acceptable. the sapiens part of homo sapiens is supposed to mean we're capable of modifying our instinctive behaviours.

It's the cultural behaviours we need to worry about.

Cory, throughout history and throughout the globe today, a heck of a lot of unwanted sex is happening to women. FGM is designed to remove sexual pleasure and thereby reduce chances of adultery. Many countries (see my posts upthread) do not recognise that a man can rape his wife. Others allow child brides below the age of consent or demand that a rapist "makes up" for his crime by marrying his victim.

Closer to home, 85-90% of rapes in the UK are by men known to, and often in a relationship with, the victim. Conjugal rights and lying back and thinking of England are still memes, albeit diminishing, about sex being a woman's duty in marriage.

Of course, wanted and pleasurabke PIV is happening all the time. But so is a hell of a lot of unwanted PIV.
