To think it's not on to shout abuse out the window at people!?

I was walking into town yesterday when a white van drove past me and a man shouted fatty out the window at me Angry

I'm absolutely mortified and so glad that I was on my own I would have died if there was anyone with me!

I am rather fat at the moment, I had twins less than a year ago and I'm struggling to find time to exercise but surely even if I was 25 stone or something it doesn't give someone the right to embarrass me like that.

Don't know why I'm posting really but I can't tell anyone in real life and it's really bothering me.

He doesn't seem the kind of person who'd even care how much it affected me. I'm not a vindictive person but I'd love him to feel even half as bad as I did that night.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 13/05/2016 06:26

I was walking through our village recently, two lads behind me. I know them, they used to be in dd's class. They're 13 yo. One of them asked me if I fancied a shag. I went crazy. Stopped, turned round, asked him what he'd said. He denied saying anything. I was shouting by now, "don't you dare talk to me like that you disgusting little shit". I hope he thinks twice about doing it again.

PirateSmile · 13/05/2016 07:38

Beverley I'm sure that he gets eaten up by all the comedians who can fill a stadium while he's hosting a carpet salesman of the year event. He's been at it for such a long time now, chances are it's never gonna happen for him and he'll always be a third rate comedian. Can you imagine somebody like Michael Mcintire it John Bishop, comedians who do tours where they sell out the O2 night after night picking on an audience member because if the way that they look? I can't.
As I said before, let's laugh at Rudi and his shitty career.

BeverlyGoldberg · 13/05/2016 07:54

Pirate you have really made me laugh! Laughing at Rudi and his shit career! GrinGrinGrin

As it happens I lost weight but Rudi's always going to be shit!

"a message to you Rudi..."

You're shit

BeverlyGoldberg · 13/05/2016 08:54

Not to turn it into a Rudi bashing thread BUT... from his own website

"A charming character, Rudi is loved wherever he performs."

You're really not mate, I thought you were a knob.

SharonBottsPoundOfGrapes · 13/05/2016 09:19

Bev read one of his reviews on Chortle. Here's a snippet.
"It’s not a good sign when a wilfully confrontational show comes off as bland and pedestrian. Lickwood has some funny lines and makes a few good points, but his fatally old-fashioned delivery and desperately prosaic observations on Britain’s ethnic diversity define his act. Who knew that a paean to variety and tolerance could be so dull and petulant."

PirateSmile · 13/05/2016 09:43

As it happens I lost weight but Rudi's always going to be shit!

That's a brilliant comeback Grin

PirateSmile · 13/05/2016 09:45

Another review.

he’s a functional journeyman of an MC rather than an inspired comic force.

Oh dear Rudi...

plantsitter · 13/05/2016 09:52

Can I tweet him this thread bev/sprinkles?

It's the same attitude as the men in India who think it's OK to physically attack women. It's not so physical but the intent is the same.
The results are also the same - women afraid of the outside world.

I am so in awe of those of you who have directly challenged this behaviour.

KittyKrap · 13/05/2016 10:16

Who's laughing now Rudi? We all are, at you!
Unfunny cunt.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 13/05/2016 10:17

I have been spat on by a young male passenger in a car that slowed up specifically to do this , I was too stunned to swear Angry

A 4wd pulled over to the kerb to splash me with slush on an empty road (so they weren't even avoiding another car, they sped up to splash me)

My DD when she was 10yo (tall, long hair) was catcalled "Wayyyy, hello darling" type by a carload of young men. They were behind us, hopefully when they saw her face they'd realise she was 10 .

I was driving yesterday and saw a man (in his mid 30s) wearing just shorts and shoes, his belly burgeoning over the waistband. I was adult enough not to yell "Put some fucking clothes on, mate" though it was an assault on the eyeballs .
And it's only May . We have four months worth of semi naked sweaty male flesh to look forward to

vladthedisorganised · 13/05/2016 10:23

It's crap, isn't it?
I've had it happen a lot while running. One carload of twats decided to turn around so they could follow me again and shout 'fat bitch' out the window.

Why? Do they get off on this somehow? Does it make them feel marvellous in themselves? Do they go home and tell their non-existent mates - 'I had a brilliant day today! There was this woman jogging along the road, minding her own business, so I did the only decent thing - I turned the car around and we all told her she was a fat bitch! I feel like I've done my bit for society!"

Not that it's relevant, but I'm a size 8.

Rebecca2014 · 13/05/2016 10:25

Countless threads about this issue, surely there is more we can do as a society to make this behaviour unacceptable? The problem is you get women who do complain but majority of people tell the woman to lighten up, no harm was done etc. It's acceptable in our culture to shout out at women.

KittyKrap · 13/05/2016 10:26

I got a load of abuse from a guy in a white van who'd stopped to let me cross the road. I didn't have my contacts in - it was my old boss winding me up, twat!

DH has very long hair, he sometimes gets abuse until they realise he's not a lovely lady from the front and could easily rip their heads off.

PirateSmile · 13/05/2016 10:36

This is probably the most media exposure Rudi has had in a thirty year career.

Another message to Rudi

'Hey Rudi. You mess with one Mumsnetter, you mess you us all. If you don't believe me, ask Ronan Keating...'

ErNope · 13/05/2016 10:45

Someone on page one (so sorry can't remember who!) mentioned a game where drivers beep/shout at you if you go past on a bike and try to make you fall off to get a point. that makes me really sad. 2 weeks ago I took my autistic brother out for lunch, walking back to my house someone in a car rolled down the windows and screamed and I mean full blown ear piercing banshee type scream, while going past us. everyone else in the car was laughing. while my autistic DB promptly had a meltdown, 'flopped' to the floor and refused to walk, meaning I had to carry him back to my house (he's 10, just under 5ft and very bloody heavy!).
I'm so very sad to hear that its actually a thing. we weren't on bikes btw, but seems like an adaptation of it.

Sprinklesontop · 13/05/2016 10:45

I think rudi should be the name we call all these twats Grin

OP posts:
ErNope · 13/05/2016 10:56

Btw, Women do it too.
I once was walking down a busy road (Only person walking but lots of cars) and a group of teenage girls in a car shouted ''fat slag'' at me while they went past.(I was on my way to aldi. in a maxi dress. and a size 6. the fuck? not justified anyway but wtf?) its happened to me a lot, too many times to count, mostly men (the situation mentioned above is the only time a woman/women have done it to me!) , I don't go into city centre anymore for that reason alone! I either shop online or go to Cardiff (As opposed to pontypridd town centre which is my nearest 'town'). Cardiff is 100x busier so no one really does it as much in the day and i tend to stay away from roads as I'm only nipping in and out of the shopping centre.

NotQuiteJustYet · 13/05/2016 11:00

Sprinkles I agree with you, "Well, wasn't s/he a raging fucking rudi..." has a certain ring to it.

NotQuiteJustYet · 13/05/2016 11:05

ErNope, that's horrible that they did that when you were with your brother. I think I read upthread that someone else had a similar experience with someone screaming at them when they were with a relative with autism. I can't even begin to imagine the level of sensory overload that must cause.

Shame that these pricks don't consider the damage they cause to people at all, whether it's triggering a meltdown or years of self-esteem issues.

ReginaBlitz · 13/05/2016 12:11

Absolute vile twats. Rise above it and just think how sad and pathetic they are to think that is acceptable. Can imagine it's upsetting but they are no one to judge and I'd rather be a fat cunt than a malicious one.
