Saw this in Sainsbury's tonight . It's age 3. Seriously? Is a 'selfie queen' a desirable label for a toddler?

WTF is wrong with a Peppa Pig t-shirt for this age group?

I thought this was going to be one of those wildly inappropriate slogan tops. I think this one isn't so bad - Sainsburys cut costs by making the same designs in many sizes and Peppa Pig would require licensing so wouldn't be as cost effective... hmm.

Some kids are a bit mad for having their photo taken all the time.

Horrible message for girls, pretty bloody depressing as is the whole culture surrounding it.

Well, I wouldn't buy it, but I wouldn't class it as inappropriate. It is as appropriate as Peppa Pig (which I wouldn't buy either).

Well ok, maybe Peppa Pig wasn't the best example, but I meant something geared to appeal to a pre-schooler, rather that trying to turn a 3 year old into a mini teenager.

How is it inappropriate? If you don't like, if it's not your taste, if it's a bit naff - don't buy it. I've a 5 year old - she likes taking photos - of herself, of me, of her sisters, of the ground, of her teeth, of her dolls. Pound to a penny my mum picks that tshirt up for her when she's shopping this week. I'll say thanks, stick it in her drawer with her Peppa, Mickey Mouse and various other tops she has, that no doubt wouldn't pass the appropriateness test.

My 4 yo DD loves taking selfies!! I don't like that T shirt though. There are plenty of Peppa clothes in Saino's though. And Disney princesses, Gruffalo...

It's not inappropriate. Just crap and tacky. I am sure there are plenty of parents who think it's 'cute' though.
I pity our children all growing up so self aware and camera ready all the time.

Okay, were they making you buy it? was it the only top they have in the store? Thought not. Vote with your purse and don't buy it - if there is no market then they'll stop making them. I've seen worse and there is such a thing as allowing choice.

It's not my taste, but I don't see what is offensive, teenager, worrying or inappropriate?!

This would be perfect for my daughter. She is the selfie queen. They're usually of her nostrils but they're still selfies.

It's inappropriate because it perpetuates the idea that women and girls are vacuous and self-obsessed.

And the idea parents want to perpetuate that idea for their kids is sad, IMHO.

Or it's just jokey and fun.

But UmbongoUnchained your daughter presumably is just having fun with a camera, that's not posting selfies of herself all day, which I think is the kind of implication here.

No she isn't but I really don't see why it would be a problem if she did.
