HAVE YOU CANCELLED THE CHEQUE YET, OP?

Just askin'

And place marking for updates Grin

This thread can't end there, it's not an episode of Eastenders!

OP posts:
PacificDogwod · 09/05/2016 20:54

Puzzled was upset
Her generous gift tankéd
Now she licks her wounds.

Sad
isitginoclock · 09/05/2016 21:14

Wait, what happened? Did she cancel the cheque? (Sorry)

USR · 10/05/2016 11:31

We have established that unfortunately the cheque had been cashed so it could not be cancelled. I do wonder if the writer (is that what OP is? Other Person?) responded to that rude comment she received or if she just ignored it. Ignoring it is probably the polite response. It was just a work colleague's wedding and she gave 100 pounds. That to me sounds extremely generous (or perhaps there is inflation now compared to when my friends were getting married). To be asked for more money just because she might have come into some is rude, rude, rude. Don't buy something you can't afford.

scaryteacher · 10/05/2016 12:08

OP = original poster

Lweji · 10/05/2016 13:02

The OP on the other thread replied asking if the email had been a mistake. Then told all her friends about it at a different function.

JaneAustinAllegro · 10/05/2016 13:28

have we seen that The Daily Mail has done Puzzled's work for her here?
www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3582662/Bride-groom-email-guest-say-wedding-gift-wasn-t-generous-enough.html

WanHeda · 10/05/2016 13:30

Yeah, I also just spotted it in the Fail.

MrsDOnofrio · 10/05/2016 13:43

Wow Shock

I've read previous threads that mentioned the Daily Heil lifting stories from MN but that is the first time I've actually followed the link. How blatant Shock. Words fail me....

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 10/05/2016 13:47

OMFG, the Daily Hate are just shameless, aren't they?! Can't believe the cheek of them! ShockAngry

Lweji · 10/05/2016 13:50

The original poster later expressed her surprise at the massive response she'd had, saying: 'I'm dead when bride finds out, aren't I?'

The DM didn't RTFT either. Smile

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 10/05/2016 13:50

And seriously - the "reporter" has only written about 10 lines in the whole fucking article - the rest of it is all C&P posts from here! Un-fucking-believable.

Puzzled - if you didn't namechange for this, you probably want to now...

Oysterbabe · 10/05/2016 13:51

A few of the commenters have helpfully suggested she should cancel the cheque.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/05/2016 13:55

Oh gawd Hmm

I had a PM from a DM Online journalist (different one to the person who wrote this) and ignored it ... looks like they've gone with it anyway

Vaara · 10/05/2016 13:56

Oh dear, looks like you've been outed OP!

LagunaBubbles · 10/05/2016 13:57

I noticed that Oysterbabe! Grin

Seeyounearertime · 10/05/2016 13:57

Did you cancel the cheque Puzzled?

*Runs

BuddyC4t · 10/05/2016 14:07

I'd guess the bride is a mail reader as well! Grin

JaneAustinAllegro · 10/05/2016 14:08

Since Mumsnet owns the copyright in the content of these boards, I'd be pretty interested to know whether they are granting consent to the DM (in return for payment) for verbatim reproduction of posts, together with screenshots? Or are they so relaxed about copyright infringement that they just let it slide? because either approach seems damaging to the "community". Any eds care to enlighten us?

coconutpie · 10/05/2016 14:13

Any update Puzzled?!

Janecc · 10/05/2016 14:14

Bloody cheek. Looks like the DM may be writing a cheque of their own if they failed to cheque this one.

wheresthebeach · 10/05/2016 14:14

Wow. The Fail constantly trawling here for stories is getting out of control. There is a big difference between posting for advice here and wanting your thread to be in a national 'newspaper'.

Awful. Makes you think...

Lweji · 10/05/2016 14:18

I also like how the Mail cover the pissed part, but they copy WTAF. Grin

LookJustCancelTheCheque · 10/05/2016 14:19

Jane, I'd like to know where MN/we stand on copyright and reproduction of threads.

HQ?

RiverTam · 10/05/2016 14:20

Good heavens! They made damn sure they included as many identifiers as possible, did they not? FFS.

Yes, I'd be interested to know what the legal position is - MNHQ?

RiverTam · 10/05/2016 14:20

I don't think they know what WTAF means, I get the feeling that it's an MNism, unlike WTF.
