Just askin'

And place marking for updates Grin

This thread can't end there, it's not an episode of Eastenders!

OP posts:

Well, it was an entertaining search

VenusRising is right, though:

"can someone PLEASE assimilate allt eh top tips abotu long haul flying into one easy to post htread"

Lweji · 09/05/2016 13:27

On Cod

Sorry.

SoupDragon · 09/05/2016 13:38

So, just to be clear, it's OK to bitch about someone on a thread they aren't on and which is not about them? OKaaaay. Hmm

Lweji · 09/05/2016 13:45

Afai can tell it's a banned poster.

RuthyToothy · 09/05/2016 14:08

In the event that the grabby couple keep on at the OP about this, there was some useful advice from a similar situation in the Huff Post a few years ago:

m.huffpost.com/us/entry/wedding-gift_n_3535780.html

RuthyToothy · 09/05/2016 14:09

OP of the cheque thread, I mean - not the OP of this thread Blush

InternationalHouseofToast · 09/05/2016 14:21

One day, months from now, Puzzled will happen to bump into the retired gentleman who may also have been told his contribution to their wedding fund was insufficient, and find out why he failed to turn up at the 2nd function.

She will then start another thread on here...confirming that he had root canal work that day and wasn't able to make it but expressed his condolences as to how rude the bride had been! Grin

I think that Puzzled is putting this behind her until she has other news to add, such as the meeting with the non-attending guest or a reply from the bride to her email. A cautionary tale for potential Bridezillas out there.

fusionconfusion · 09/05/2016 14:27

Well I would have cancelled the cheque.

SerafinaScoresby · 09/05/2016 14:28

Place marking Grin

Smooshface · 09/05/2016 14:49

but new thread means that this new thread's op will be highlighted! nooo, i just discovered this feature thanks to this thread and it isn't going to help me!

Clarissa69 · 09/05/2016 14:51

What does cancel the cheque mean exactly?!😄😄 is it the same as kick them into touch (although cancel the cheque sounds much better!)

Lweji · 09/05/2016 14:52

It means that the OP should cancel the cheque even though it has already been cashed. And that people don't read the fucking threads.

Clarissa69 · 09/05/2016 14:54

Ok thanks for making that clear - only asking.......

Lweji · 09/05/2016 14:55

No offense on you, it does mean that. Did you read the original thread?

Clarissa69 · 09/05/2016 14:56

Ha - I jumped in because someone put 'I would cancel the cheque' on my thread earlier so I thought...eh..hang on.....😜

Clarissa69 · 09/05/2016 14:57

Gonna read it now though....!

meladeso · 09/05/2016 15:01

please please come back, Puzzled!

CheersMedea · 09/05/2016 15:03

CancelledCheque
I think she has unsportingly blocked Grabby McBrideface so won't receive any reply.

Noooooooooooooooooooo. Say it ain't so.

Come on Puzzled haven't you got any heart??!?!? We want to read the no doubt very self entitled reply from The Grabster.

Akire · 09/05/2016 15:51

Well that's an hour of my life I not get back. Have you considered cancelling the cheque ?

Puzzledandpissedoff · 09/05/2016 16:59

I think that Puzzled is putting this behind her until she has other news to add, such as the meeting with the non-attending guest or a reply from the bride to her email

Correct Smile

It seems the only sensible thing to do, and while the (now blocked) bride can't email or text me, I promise to update if I hear from her in some other way ...

Seeyounearertime · 09/05/2016 17:01

cant you just name and shame them? please? pretty please?

promise we won't tell anyone else at all.... ;)

Lweji · 09/05/2016 17:18

Maybe she'll (well, they) write you an open letter in the Guardian:
Dear ex-colleague whose wedding present was found lacking and plastered it all over MN

iklboo · 09/05/2016 18:54

Poor Puzzled was left scratching her head
Her gift went down like a balloon made of lead
But oh flipping heck
If she reads 'cancel the cheque'
One more time she will bloody see red!

IFinishedTheBiscuits · 09/05/2016 20:44

Oh yes, name and shame, we need to get a look at grabby bride and groom's Facebook profiles. Maybe bride will 'out' herself if it goes viral on Facebook. Can't imagine many people will argue that it's reasonable behaviour so they should be easy to spot.
Or maybe Daily Mail will do a "Do you know this couple" piece and they'll be outed by an equally grabby family member.
