Just askin'

And place marking for updates Grin

This thread can't end there, it's not an episode of Eastenders!

OP posts:
Puzzledandpissedoff · 10/05/2016 14:21

Any update Puzzled?!

See my comment at 13.55 Wink

Pooseyfrumpture · 10/05/2016 14:24

What's most shocking about that DM article is that only one comment is "I would 100% cancel the cheque"

MissPunnyMany · 10/05/2016 14:24

Bloody hell. DM are such twats! It would have been easier for them just to link to the thread rather than copy and paste bits with a few explanatory sentences. Now I understand the DM bashing that happens on MN so often. They really are muppets, fancy stealing MN threads! Hmm

Janecc · 10/05/2016 14:26

RiverTam I don't know what WTAF means. I assumed it was the same as WTF.

Lweji · 10/05/2016 14:26

There was a recent one where they printed a thread about coping with the death of a child. That was a definite low, if you missed it.

whathavewedonenow99 · 10/05/2016 14:39

WTAF means what the actual fuck

CraftyPenguin · 10/05/2016 14:47

Lazy "journalism" from the daily fail. AGAIN.

In other news, did you cancel the cheque, puzzled?

Whocansay · 10/05/2016 14:55

Fucking hell! The DM has no shame!

OP, did the DM tell you to cancel the cheque in their PM? I really think you should...

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 10/05/2016 14:58

I guess MN has become the new "dead donkey" for the Daily Fail - slow news day? let's check MN and see what they've got!

Lweji · 10/05/2016 15:03

To be fair, several people suggested on the original thread that the DM picking up the story would be a good way to get at the bride.
How well MNetters know what the DM is capable of. Wink

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 10/05/2016 15:07

I think the Daily Fail should just put automatic redirect to Mumsnet. It'd be so much easier for everybody Grin

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 10/05/2016 15:09

Clearly there was a lack of swearing on the original thread.
Nuggets.

Lweji · 10/05/2016 15:15

They even make the thread seem like it was all about the B&G, when it was really all about the cheque. Biased journalism at its worst.

amidawish · 10/05/2016 15:21

Mumsnet - you really HAVE to do something about this. What is the legal position? Not sure i am ever going to post again if it is likely to end up in the daily fail.

momb · 10/05/2016 15:35

Wowzer! Chatty Friend can have a field day now that she has all the info to take straight to B+G!
It won't matter that you blocked the bride: she'll be so embarrassed she will never show her face again!

Lweji · 10/05/2016 15:42

She may even change jobs.

NeededANameChangeAnyway · 10/05/2016 15:48

A fucking lesson here to fucking pepper any cunting posts which may be lifted by the fucking twatty low rent Daily Fail journos with swear words. FUCKERS

Goingtobeawesome · 10/05/2016 15:52

Puzzled - how did the daily mail contact you? They aren't allowed to do so via PM..

Lweji · 10/05/2016 15:55

And what was their email?
Or username?
Grin

Lweji · 10/05/2016 15:56

I think the Daily Fail should just put automatic redirect to Mumsnet. It'd be so much easier for everybody

Yes, if only there was a way to get to MN directly. More so to the popular threads. Through something like a website, or FB, or something.

PansyGiraffe · 10/05/2016 16:28

"Taking to Mumsnet, the anonymous poster known as Puzzledandp*sedoff and believed to be from the UK, asked fellow users for advice and found herself inundated with more than a thousand responses in three days, with many urging her to cancel the cheque altogether."

Point ---------------> Daily Mail

Missed.

MrsHathaway · 10/05/2016 16:28

Since Mumsnet owns the copyright in the content of these boards

No. They own the copyright in content they have created. We retain copyright in what we have created, but when we press "Post" we are granting MN a non-exclusive licence to the work (otherwise they couldn't show the post).

When the DM (or BuzzFeed or whoever) link back, quote or lift, it's under fair use provisions of copyright. Note that they lift stuff as images with transcript, rather than copying the text across.

But yes, lazy.

JeannePoole · 10/05/2016 16:34

Bridezilla should go and work for the DM as it's clearly money for nothing. It'd be right up her alley.

paxillin · 10/05/2016 16:41

Do not click on the DM link below, you are producing revenue for them if you do. For content of the Daily Wail story, see this thread and the last one. I doubt they added anything worth reading.

Janecc · 10/05/2016 16:41

Ooh Jeanne very good.
