I'm being totally U and preparing to be flamed but does anyone else find this guy really annoying?

6 months in Space (yawn) and today running the marathon on a treadmill. Bore off.

How does it feed hearts and souls? I'm honestly not being goady or mean, I just do not see what the benefit is? It's so, so much money that could be spent on people that need it, surely? I don't see how we would still be in the dark ages without space travel to be honest?

You don't have to like him, and its fine if he gets on your nerves. It's the sneery posts denigrating the quite massive achievements way beyond anything the said sneerers have ever done that are the problem, and the idea he should go away because they personally have no soul can't see the appeal....

They do lots of science in space. Lots of finding out stuff about what the Universe is made of, how it's changing, how it began etc.

I'm no astrophysicist, but I'm 6pretty^ sure it's more than rocket ships and eating dehydrated ice-cream

I just found myself unable to think of any. Tim Vine wasn't the best example if I'm honest.

Perhaps it's the good egg British thing, called Tim, and bland surnames.

Tim Peake / Henman could do a marathon, in space whilst winning Wimbledon and someone would say meh, media bore.

I think I'm a bit meh about space travel anyway, tbh. I come down on the 'so what when there's global poverty to deal with first' side of things.

And it's the whole Tim-ness of him. He's like Bear Grylls in a space suit. Annoying.

But I am fully prepared to accept I'm being an unreasonable curmudgeon. Not that unusual for me.

Why did Charles Lindbergh cross the Atlantic? All the money spent on air travel over 150 years could feed a lot of people. Why did Scott got to the South Pole? Why did Magellan sail around the earth? Why did the Romans conquer half the world?
How much money is spent on Art and Music and flowers and a hundred million things that could be better spent on "people in need" ?

And whats the point of a full stomach when you all have empty minds?

And thats not to mention some of the things we have because of space travel. Like laptops. And the camera in your phone. And CAT scans. And next gen artifical limsbs, and VAD's, and scratch resistant lenses, and freeze dried food and a thousand other things.

Tim from Topsy and Tim was my first love, and my husband is called Tim (we are affectionately known as Tipsy and Tim...apart from at the anonymous group I attend on a Wednesday....) so in general I am a big fan of Tims. Not Henman though, he always seemed a bit wet.
