I'm being totally U and preparing to be flamed but does anyone else find this guy really annoying?

6 months in Space (yawn) and today running the marathon on a treadmill. Bore off.

OP posts:

Op I suspect he could return to earth and present you with the moon on a stick and you'd remain unimpressed. He's actually in space - y'know, like in the films and all that. But we can actually communicate with him while he's up there too. It fucking blows my mind. I flipping love space I do.

Tallulah - you do know they get deliveries sent to and from during the stay ??? It doesn't all go in one go.

Vaara · 25/04/2016 12:38

Deliveries? I bet you need to be an Amazon Prime customer though, and that's spendy Wink

Money for old rope. He should get a proper job, like binman.

Well, I'm more impressed at a 3:18 road marathon than a marathon in space! That's a great time. He's probably more fit now than he was in 1999 as well. I bet he runs as a celeb next year, if he's back.

Blatherskite · 25/04/2016 18:29

I hope he runs on earth next year Nicky333, I'd love to see how he does.

3:18 is great but he was at 70% body weight and on a treadmill both of which would have made it easier. He did an impressive time but I'd love to see if he could do it on earth too.

Duckdeamon · 25/04/2016 18:32

Poor man, OP is bored and other posters are all set to scrutinise his shorter suit and running prowess on return!

MarshaBrady · 26/04/2016 20:13

You'd be a bit annoyed at being the one before. Helen something?

No social media then - the worst case of going on a big trip and not getting an instagram / FB shot.

Hulababy · 27/04/2016 18:49

Blatherskite - he has already done it on earth, and the 3hr 18min time is HIS Earth based time. The one in space - and yes the weight was 70% BUT there were other factors bringing it much closer to real weight in addition - was slower than that at 3hr 35min - though he is now older (he did the LM on Earth in 1999) but presumably in a very fit state through his training, though with the restraints that the ISS environment brings too.

Helen Sharman has been on social media and the news, etc. talking about her space exploration and that of Tim Peake's. She was on when he first went up. She didn't seem unhappy at how he was being talked about. I suspect the space teams are pretty supportive of one another tbh, they seem to be when I have heard them speak.

We include Helen Sharman in our explorer topic with Y2, every year. She is local to us.
