I'm being totally U and preparing to be flamed but does anyone else find this guy really annoying?

6 months in Space (yawn) and today running the marathon on a treadmill. Bore off.

It's ok to find people annoying. It's part of life.

I think its great that something related to STEM subjects is getting so much visibility - as a country we need to encourage more people to see them as accessible/fun/not geeky. I think he has made a huge amount of progress in helping to change opinions (well maybe not with everyone based on OP!)

I find the window into what happens on the ISS quite interesting actually.

I was musing the other day whether it was appropriate to ask him to record a message for my team at work who have done an amazing job but figured he has probably got plenty to be getting on with.

And he shares the most wonderful photos on FB

No I think he is massively inspirational and seems utterly delightful.

It's a shame there wasn't so much social media/technology interaction about in 1991 when Helen Sharman was floating about because I'd much rather it was a woman up there, but hats off to him.

Please tell us about your interesting and exciting life. It must be pretty amazing if you find a man running a marathon from space boring.

I think it's great that we can know so much about what he's up to, like watching him blast off and arrive at the ISS. Who knew he'd spend so much time tweeting song lyrics though?!

You don't need to have an exciting life to find things boring.
For me space + sport is about the most dull combination of things possible.

I love following Tim Peake. His photos are incredible and it's wonderful that he can engage with and inspire children and adults alike.

By definition what he's doing is exciting. It's great to highlight all the science and sheer wonder if space.

He's had to be a poster boy for all this. He wasn't chosen for his personality, and I honk he's doing pretty admirably given the circumstances. I think he's trying really hard to be engaging. I do understand a little bit what you mean because he isn't charismatic in the way Commander Hadfield was. But really I'd rather hear about genuine science and pioneering ventures than a lot of things around at the moment

Why question what I do with my own life cos I find this guy popping up everywhere and running a marathon on a treadmill boring?

I don't find people running the marathon boring, I love watching it with a slight hangover and hearing the stories behind why people are doing it.

You know, actually being social, enjoying people's company and not fucking off to space for 6 months is fulfilling enough for me. Where did the money come to fund this ego trip anyway?

I'm not remotely interested in space but I think he's really making the most of his opportunity and good for him , at least he is trying to share his experience and inspire people .

We need to find ways of making people and children realise that science is interesting, and he's doing a terrific job.

I don't see the point of any of it. People are starving on earth but yet we waste millions sending people up into the great unknown for what?

How does him running the marathon in space impinge on your life so much that you get this worked up about it?

And aren't the Russians funding the space thing?
