It just doesn't appear as professional as I was hoping for I guess. It looks wonky and the fondant icing looks badly done. I was so hoping for it to be amazing.

I bet mary berry is pissing herself right now... Sorry im not a fan of nadia's, I never thought she was the best on the bake off and to be asked to make a cake for the queen you kind of have to put in some effort.

But that cake looks likes she's panicked for the last 6 weeks and then 2 days before thought fuck it, i'll do a sponge, stick marmalade in it and paint it purple.

I was expecting pretty flowers all over/nice colours/something not like 3 lumps stuck on top of each other. I bet the queen went home and had a good old massive costco cake with all the icing.

budgiegirl · 22/04/2016 07:11

Well, I'm going against the grain - I like the design and colours. Modern, simple, different from most cakes the Queen is presented with.

However, it's poorly finished. Lumpy, possibly wonky. But that's because Nadia is a fabulous baker, not a cake decorator. I feel for her , she's been set up to fail. Hope she doesn't take the criticism too much to heart, it must be soul destroying.

TitaniumSpider · 22/04/2016 07:25

I liked it as well.

FlyingElbows · 22/04/2016 08:11

I'm very sure there was an utterly fabulous professionally done cake at the family party. Maybe there'll be a picture of that so you can rip that to bits too and pass comment on whether it's creator is appropriately dressed. Wtf?!

ChardonnayKnickertonSmythe · 22/04/2016 08:25

Well, if the professional cake looked not up to scratch then I'm sure they will be comments on that as well.

As for cake baker's appearance the only comments on Nadya were that she looked different with the turban. Hardly ripping to shreds or saying it's innaproppriate?

KinkyAfro · 22/04/2016 08:30

How very mean you all are, I feel saddened reading this. Let's hope Nadia doesn't use this site, she'd be gutted

PainAuChocolat23 · 22/04/2016 08:42

chipped if she wants some im sure my ds wouldnt mind sharing Grin

Chipstick10 · 22/04/2016 08:45

It was crap. Tacky. And not fit for our queen. Over exposed cake maker

Crazypetlady · 22/04/2016 08:55

It looked badly made but Im not too bothered about it not being 'fit for our queen' certainly isnt my queen by choice.

All?

I guess you must have missed the posts in favour of her and the cake.

originalmavis · 22/04/2016 09:05

The thing is she is a home cook and not patisserie chef at the café Royal.

Not sure about the marmalade though. Goes on toast.

LettingAgentNightmare · 22/04/2016 09:13

The middle layer really is cringe worthy. The stripes are like someone Would do for a toddlers cake.

originalmavis · 22/04/2016 09:15

Not even a candle.

KinkyAfro · 22/04/2016 09:16

Bit nit picking there notonyur, but I'll rephrase it to most of you

Happy now?

PirateSmile · 22/04/2016 09:18

I really like the colours. They are very appropriate and modern too. I wonder if the camera angle has made the cake look wonky?

Sparklingbrook · 22/04/2016 09:18

I do think it's OK to say you don't like something very much.

Thornrose · 22/04/2016 09:19

In the video when the queen cuts the cake, it doesn't look wonky! Very odd!

LovelyFriend · 22/04/2016 09:37

what, no candles?

KinkyAfro · 22/04/2016 09:40

Of course it's ok to say you don't like something but some of the comments are out of order

Quality of the film isn't great, but the cake looks much better, straighter, from the other side:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/21/queen-presented-with-home-made-birthday-cake-by-bake-off-winner/

I like the colours and its simplicity. Besides, you can't dismiss a cake without trying it.

Floggingmolly · 22/04/2016 09:44

It looks embarrassingly awful. And what's this about "people" having an input? She either makes the fecking cake and takes the credit for it or not; I would deny all knowledge of that monstrosity, personally or she doesn't.
Why have her as a figurehead on what was obviously a team effort? It's a cake!

diddl · 22/04/2016 09:56

I like the idea, I like the gold & purple tiers.

Not sure about the stripes.

But no one ate it?

What was the point of it?

hanahsaunt · 22/04/2016 09:59

I find it in keeping with previous offerings, not least the show stopper from the final; she would not have been my choice of winner. However, cake should only be judged on flavour and it may well taste lovely.

diddl · 22/04/2016 09:59

I think that it looks lovely in the link that fascicle has posted.
