To spend £1000

Jaimx86 · 27/03/2016 21:21

I want a luxury spa and Michelin star restaurant for me and my DP. Live in the Midlands, so open to a lot of areas.

Looked at The Priory in Bath and The Grovesnor in Chester so far. I want utter decadence, but not sure whether these places will offer that. Upto £1000 for two nights.

Am I asking too much for the cost?

OP posts:
FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 28/03/2016 23:02

Umm. It's a shame you didn't spend some of that money on spelling lessons or finishing school perhaps?
There's really no need to be so rude to people just because you want to splash your cash.
Try Le Manoir as someone has suggested or further afield, the whiskey suites in Cameron House are beautiful.

wonkybumcrack · 28/03/2016 23:18

I feel sorry for the people staying at lucknam park while she's there.

wasonthelist · 28/03/2016 23:32

Is the OP Donald Trump?

Topseyt · 28/03/2016 23:43

Is going topless on a bus in Chester actually decadent enough for the OP?

Perhaps if the right champagne were to be included in the price such as Moet, Veuve Cliquot, etc.

Personally, I would want a big dram of whiskey to make sure I stayed warm enough. .

CheeseGerm · 28/03/2016 23:49

You ought to spend the £1000 on some security to keep the poor bitches away, OP. Them and their opinions, they get everywhere and we can't have you bumping into any on your spa break!

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 28/03/2016 23:55

Thanks for letting us know OP.

It'll give everyone else time to cancel their booking.

Do show the same amount of class you have thus far, by waving receipts in people's faces so everyone's knows exactly what your luxuryspabreak cost.

Oh, and if they seem to find it utterly crass, be sure to bark insults at them, about being poor and jealous.

Stay classy.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 28/03/2016 23:56

When did we start doing arsehole of the week? What's the prize?

RJnomore1 · 29/03/2016 00:20

One of these

Biscuit
LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 29/03/2016 00:26

I think we're going to run out of biscuits tonight rj. Bloody bank holiday chaos.

novemberchild · 29/03/2016 00:29

Well, I hope it's a decadent, luxury biscuit.

I've got a half mauled Easter egg left. There's drool on it though Grin

Vixyboo · 29/03/2016 00:36

Love WellErr's contribution :-)

Philoslothy · 29/03/2016 00:37

I don't think that YABU if you can afford it. The OP has been rude big posters were rude to her first. As always MN is sniffy about people who earn their money and dare to enjoy it.

MN is made up of people asking for things they could google

KillBillHill · 29/03/2016 00:44

I'd go to your local Iceland and go crazy on the frozen puddings for "utter decadence"...I wish I could live the high life.

antiqueroadhoe · 29/03/2016 00:50

Is "super poor" now defined as not having £1000 to spend on a weekend away?😳

Tartyflette · 29/03/2016 00:54

The Mandarin Oriental in Knightsbridge has a spa and Michelin starred restaurant (Dinner by Heston) but you'd be looking at around a grand a night including meals (or more depending on room grade).
Coweth Park, nr Ascot has a lovely spa and is vair popular with racehorse owners, I'm told. The restaurant is very good but I don't think it has a Star.
The Shangri-La hotel at the Shard has a 23rd floor pool, spa and various 'dining options' as they say. About £400 quid -,on special offer ATM - a night including breakfast but not dinner. I am thinking of going for my birthday (possibly. I have yet to bite the bullet and part with the cash.)
Ragdale Hall is lovely and relaxing but not on the same level as the above.

AnnieOnnieMouse · 29/03/2016 01:01

Not the point of this thread at all, but what DO you get for that sort of money? I can't comprehend how a weekend's accommodation and a meal could be worth that sort of money.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 29/03/2016 01:15

Annie

My best experiences of spending that kind of money have included exquisite rooms, with private gardens, pool, wonderful bed linen etc. One place had a bath that was sort of in the private garden, hard to describe, but it was beautiful.

The food has always been really fabulous, and the wine. I'm not a big fan of the kind of thing the OP wants, I prefer boutique places with perfect service, and a degree of quirkiness.

Having said that, you can have a fabulous spa break for a whole lot less!

The OP has been rude big posters were rude to her first. As always MN is sniffy about people who earn their money and dare to enjoy it.

That is with all respects, total rubbish. No one said anything that warranted the rudeness, snootiness and aggression the op demonstrated in her first follow up post. It has nothing to do with people being snotty about earning money because a) the op isn't earning enough to live the sort of lifestyle she's talking about b) plenty of other people on this thread have stayed in luxury hotels.

Philoslothy · 29/03/2016 01:22

She was accused of being a twattish, cringeworthy, attention seeking boaster within the first few posts. I would be tempted to be rude

Philoslothy · 29/03/2016 01:25

Properly wealthy people are generally very nice and down to earth.
Nouveau riche types are usually snobby arseholes

Seems just a torch sniffy about people who have earned their own month and enjoy spending it.

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 29/03/2016 01:34

Because her first post was boasty and attention seeking and got called as such. Also, if previous posts are to be believed the op works as a teacher, no doubt a worthy job, but not one that affords a jetsetting lifestyle. So a) the op is lying about her career and is actually working in a far more lucrative field b) It comes from unearned sources c) someone else is paying.

Philoslothy · 29/03/2016 01:37

I worked as a teacher but could afford £1k weekend breaks

Philoslothy · 29/03/2016 01:40

It was a bit weird to put the post in AIBU but it was a straightforward request for information

JolieMadame · 29/03/2016 08:28

I did think the same Philo - the first few posters were so rude, but OP lost the moral high ground spectacularly with her comeback....

You can't admit to having money on MN
