To spend £1000

I want a luxury spa and Michelin star restaurant for me and my DP. Live in the Midlands, so open to a lot of areas.

Looked at The Priory in Bath and The Grovesnor in Chester so far. I want utter decadence, but not sure whether these places will offer that. Upto £1000 for two nights.

Am I asking too much for the cost?

Actually Kaui is much more beautiful than Maui Wink

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 21:29

Grin DS1 from when he was little called it the 'topless' bus. He's 16 now. I think it's not really called that.....

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 21:31

Topless bus

To spend £1000
DonkeyOaty · 28/03/2016 21:34

Thumbs up!

(Did you ever take your sprogs to the MADNESS that is Crocky, Sparklers?)

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 21:37

No that's one place we never made it to. What's it like?

BeaufortBelle · 28/03/2016 21:38

And from earlier in the thread - fishfinger sandwich:

Two slices of white bread spread with salted butter, layer of salt and vinegar crisps, three Captain Birdseye Cod Fillet Fish fingers, other side spread lightly with Heinz ketchup.

Is really delish after a Ball or something when you are slightly squiffy on fizz. When we were young and poor and used to just buy Dance tickets and have a fork supper or barbecue in our finery in someone's garden .....................pure decadence Grin.

DonkeyOaty · 28/03/2016 21:38

Elf n Safety nightmare. Best place ever acc to my troops.

ouryve · 28/03/2016 21:40

topless bus tour

Would be too bloody cold for that, in December. You'd have nips like torpedoes!

JolieMadame · 28/03/2016 21:41

Agreed Donkey

Cocky is great on a sunny day but you need tough kids Grin

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 21:43

All off to Cocky on the topless bus!

JolieMadame · 28/03/2016 21:49

Sorry Smile

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 21:50

Maybe the OP could pay for all of her friends and relatives to ride the Chester topless bus with her £1000?

MummaGiles · 28/03/2016 21:54

This was a few years back but the grosvenor is my least favourite of all starred restaurants I have eaten in. That sounds boasty. I don't mean it to. We couldn't afford to stay there, only eat there (just about - it was a birthday treat for DH).

DonkeyOaty · 28/03/2016 21:55

Lolololol

YakTriangle · 28/03/2016 22:22

I'm imagining the sheer decadence of hiring the whole topless bus. You could maybe take a picnic. You mad hedonist.

BeaufortBelle · 28/03/2016 22:25

Do you know I'd quite like a nice national trust cottage somewhere near Chester and a trip on the topless bus. I'd much prefer that to a spa. I've never been to Chester.

BeaufortBelle · 28/03/2016 22:34

Ooh look! Lovely. How much more decadent than picturing Colin Firth in his wet britches Grin

LikeDylanInTheMovies · 28/03/2016 22:35

OP why don't you post your income/savings on this thread, as you seem to have supreme confidence you earn/have more than us?

On other threads op has said she's a teacher. So not a 'super poor bitch', but a thousand pounds would certainly be 'money, money' on teacher's salary, unless she' doing it on someone else's coin or is being a bit economical with the truth.

Boogers · 28/03/2016 22:38

Nah, I reckon she's a hairdresser from Macclesfield. The bullshit she's come on here with comes from reading too much Hello magazine and daydreaming between blue rinses.

Jaimx86 · 28/03/2016 22:41

Sorted. Lucknam Park from some helpful people on a different thread.

Your posts aren't painting you in a good light, OP. But, I can recommend the very newly refurbished spa at the midland in Manchester. The restaurant (the French, not mr cooper's house and garden) isn't starred but is damn well close - it's one of the best meals I've had, certainly better than at the grosvenor. It is overseen by Simon Rogan.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 22:46

A different thread? Shock

Oooblimey · 28/03/2016 22:47

Have you already booked it OP? I went there only for afternoon tea and was very disappointed. I gave it a poor review on trip advisor, they phoned me to offer me to come again for free but was so bad I said I'd rather not bother. (Friends DH was posted at the army barracks down the road at the time). Hopefully it's improved. It's a beautiful place but then when you look a little closer it's a bit tired and the service was a joke. Also the afternoon tea was very average for what we paid.

Sparklingbrook · 28/03/2016 22:48

Oh the different thread that's exactly the same but with fewer replies. Grin

Silverfoxofwarwick1953 · 28/03/2016 22:49

You would do better going to Centre Parcs, Longleat. It's just down the road and Friday night is far more decadent than Lucknam Wink
