Basically she's saying that children aren't born with ADHD, it's down to parenting.

She's 20 years old. She's not got any children although she's pregnant for the third time (2 terminations)

I pulled her up on it and told her that if my DD is diagnosed with autism (which is very likely) then it would be my fault. She told me to piss off and told me I'm a fucking useless aunt and need to butt out of her family business.

So I've ripped her a new one and told her to grow up.

I'm fuming. I know I'm probably being very U but I'm very stressed today and reading that utter bullshit just pushed me over the edge.

Best laugh is, she says she's going to be a mental health nurse. Dear God!

She sounds pleasant..

Sirzy · 26/03/2016 18:56

Sounds like you need to delete and block her from your life

But no yanbu to be annoyed with her

OneLove10 · 26/03/2016 18:56

You both sound as bad as each other fighting on fb like this.

NeedsAsockamnesty · 26/03/2016 18:56

That's all we need, one more MH professional whose not very good

embroideredbee · 26/03/2016 18:57

What have her terminations got to do with it?

crumblybiscuits · 26/03/2016 18:57

YABVU for the termination remark and lowering yourself to her level. She sounds immature, hopefully she will grow up but you don't sound great yourself.

TwoKettles · 26/03/2016 18:58

I'm not sure she would be accepted onto nurse training if that's her attitude. God help us all if she is

Janeymoo50 · 26/03/2016 18:59

You really don't like her (2 termination comment said so), but that said, she sounds ridiculously silly.

ElsaAintAsColdAsMe · 26/03/2016 18:59

I agree you are both as bad as each other, she's judging you, you're judging her.

I hope this wasn't all played out on Facebook.

arethereanyleftatall · 26/03/2016 18:59

You sound as bad as each other.

The problem with ADHD is that whilst there are some who undoubtably have it, there are also some shit parents about who claim their dc have it. I'd direct my ire their way.

ByThePrickingOfMyThumbs · 26/03/2016 19:01

She's obviously spouting twattish opinions so YANBU there but I think you've lost the moral high ground by involving yourself in an undignified FB spat. Block her.

Dairybanrion · 26/03/2016 19:04

There's no need to argue with somebody like this.
What she is is saying is incorrect and irrational.
It is very worrying that she will be a mental health nurse..

Libitina · 26/03/2016 19:05

What do her terminations have to do with anything?

Hissy · 26/03/2016 19:05

Why are you even FB friends with your niece?

Lurkedforever1 · 26/03/2016 19:05

She is clearly a twat for being stupid enough to hold such an ignorant opinion. But your snide comment about her terminations hardly leaves you looking pleasant yourself.

yorkshapudding · 26/03/2016 19:06

YANBU to be offended by the opinions she has expressed. She sounds ignorant and ill informed and she needs to be careful about her use of social media as Student Nurses are bound by the NMC code of conduct. However, YABVU to bring up the subject of her terminations. It has no relevence whatsoever to the subject of your post and makes you seem as judgemental as she is.

YANBU, I know a teacher who works at a PRU with primary aged children who believes the same thing. No such thing as ADHD, it's the parenting instead.

I was hugely WTAF when she first said it.

I'm FB friends with my niece. She doesn't post stuff like that though.

lottielou7 · 26/03/2016 19:18

Can people stop saying that some parents lie that their child has ADHD - its fucking ignorant. It's very difficult to actually get a diagnosis of any kind.

imeatingthechocolate · 26/03/2016 19:19

yanbu i know of someone whose own sister has a child with difficulties she said its because she kept him in his pushchair with a dummy in his mouth so he is disabled and she has apparently always wanted a disabled baby so she never has to work again the child clearly has difficulties far beyond being stuck in the pushchair with a dummy in his mouth would cause

ignorance shear total ignorance

Eva50 · 26/03/2016 19:23

I had a friend who thought this. She thought I made excuses for DS1 because I was too PFB to let him out of my sight and she wanted him to sleep (ha ha) over with her same age ds. .......so I let her have him. She never mentioned it again.

Block your niece on FB and real life.

Chillyegg · 26/03/2016 19:25

Oh dear God.
The termination comments were a dick move.

Getting embroiled in shit on face book is a stupid idea.

the rest ignore and move on. She's clearly very immature so just ignore and exclude as best you can from your life. That level of ignorance is shocking but you know what she said is bullshit s domt get upset. As hard as it is not to

zippey · 26/03/2016 19:28

You need to find inner peace with yourself. This is someone who doesn't have any experience bringing up children spouting parenting opinions and advice.

Her options count for nothing.
