I didn't mean to! We were just on our way to go and look at wallpaper (exciting I know) and there was a little gallery and I suggested we have a look and...

...a handshake and a discount later, I LOVE it.

AIBU to ask what you have on your walls?

We have a couple of these about, showing different relationships (transactional analysis) and then some dali posters and various random bits and pieces picked up over the years. Oh, and a big photo collage!

I feel like I should update. I went down today to pay and... I didn't buy the eyes! I was thinking about it all night and I wanted the one I originally liked. So I got that one, and two little watercolours instead, all by the same artist. Now I need to start scouring charity ships for frames!

It is worth paying a decent framer, if you can. A good frame makes a picture. A bad frame ruins one. I'd say it's very much the equivalent of having a decent haircut.

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 16:10

I agree with Marianne. Having it professionally framed isn't cheap, but a good frame that you have chosen especially for a picture will transform it.

MarianneSolong · 20/03/2016 16:13

Watercolours also need glass to protect them. Ideally non-reflective glass because then you're less limited about where in your house to hang the pictures.

Really like the Katy Jade Dobsons.

Whitney168 · 20/03/2016 18:46

Absolutely agree on the framing, makes all the difference.

If anyone ordering frames online, can thoroughly recommend ezeframe.co.uk, found and used them for the lyrics and it's a lovely quality frame and mount.

MarianneSolong · 20/03/2016 19:23

I really, really, like framing. There are just so many types. It's a bit like that 'Color Me Beautiful' stuff that gets done with scarves. You hold various samples against the picture, and different mouldings will bring out different colours. For some people it will also be important to have a frame that fits in with the general decor in a particular room...

MissHooliesCardigan · 20/03/2016 19:31

pandarific · 20/03/2016 19:39

Ghosty I have that Dali print in my downlink, I love it and acquired it from a neighbour when I left home. It always reminded me of my mum. She was a nurse and looked out the window a lot. Someone pointed out if was Dali drawing of his sister with whom he had an incestuous relationship with. I've never checked that out, I like the print too much!

evelynj · 21/03/2016 21:31

Ooh I love looking at art. Roll on lotto win!
