I didn't mean to! We were just on our way to go and look at wallpaper (exciting I know) and there was a little gallery and I suggested we have a look and...

...a handshake and a discount later, I LOVE it.

AIBU to ask what you have on your walls?

Off topic, but ghosty I love that picture too! I have a theory that, despite much googling, I've never been able to verify, that it inspired the look of Madonna's music video for La Isla Bonita. DH thinks I'm mad but watch it and see what you think! She definitely likes Dali...

Fluffy those are gorgeous

Welshwabbit · 20/03/2016 10:54

We have these in the living room. I like prints. We got the Japanese one from the Ukiyo-e museum in Matsumoto. The other two were from the Affordable Art Fair.

Just waiting for someone to post one of those oil painted Walt Disney montrosoties to join this Mumsnet gallery of bad taste...

MissHooliesCardigan · 20/03/2016 11:28

EastMids are you Brian Sewell?

SquirrelledAway · 20/03/2016 11:31

I like the idea of Brian Sewell channeling himself through EastMidsMummy.

I do quite like the Ian Mitchell prints though.

MarianneSolong · 20/03/2016 11:45

If anyone is looking out for affordable older stuff, pre-1950 -oils, watercolours, etchings etc - you can always message me...

Whitney168 · 20/03/2016 11:54

SqueegyBeckinheim how fabulous - I also love it as art, but fabulous for the history.

Whitney168 · 20/03/2016 11:57

I wish we could 'like' stuff on this site!

Bea - love your dad's painting, and obviously even nicer that your dad painted it.

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 11:58

Hope this works

We have a limited edition print similar to the one above, only with more blue.

It's very striking.

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 12:01

Oh, it's by Rachel Lockwood.

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 12:04

And a couple by Barry Hilton.

So show us what you like EastMidsMummy. Just so we can admire your good taste of course.

Fascinating thread - some stuff I love, some stuff I hate, but as others have said it would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing ... you have to have what 'sings to you'!

Mix on my walls. Have struggled to find stuff I like enough to put up.

I would really like a fabulous oil original of a crashing Atlantic Cornish coastline, but haven't been able to find anything I like enough.

The things I really love are the things that no-one else owns:

  • Most recently, the lyrics of 'Bring Me Sunshine' that I asked a talented woman I know to draw up for me, as I liked her style and they make me smile.
  • A pencil nude I bought from ebay and had beautifully framed. Logically I know that a bit of it is anatomically very suspect LOL, although it is otherwise beautifully done, so in some ways makes it more 'mine' - I love it very much indeed.
  • Two very different but very lovely watercolour paintings of Blue Tits.
  • An oil painting of my Champion Rough Collie, by a woman who is mad as a snake but THE most talented animal artist I've seen.
  • Some Venetian photos in sepia that I took and framed up in trio frames.

More generically:

  • A Rupert Fawcett ('Off The Leash') colour print that hangs in my kitchen and makes me smile whenever I walk past it.
  • A print my nephew bought which was just so apt for us.
  • Lots of bird photos.
  • A 'Spineless Classic' of Romeo & Juliet.
TweenageAngst · 20/03/2016 12:16

I have a couple from this series by Dion Salvador Lloyd.
www.dionsalvador.co.uk/gallery/browse-5/
I adore them

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 12:22

Those are lovely Tweenage.

My husband paints and we usually buy paintings in a style that he couldn't do, if that makes sense.

Evabeaversprotege · 20/03/2016 12:24

I live and work close to a couple of the sites seen on Game of Thrones so we've some large framed photographs of them (before they were used on GOT)

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 12:26

We've just recently bought an original by Tracy Elphick.

firesidechat · 20/03/2016 12:27

It wasn't expensive, but it looks lovely.

SecretWitch · 20/03/2016 12:35

Love seeing these. Keep them coming..

IAmAPaleontologist · 20/03/2016 13:05

So much inspiration here. I adore those peacocks, the colours are amazing! At the moment our walls are rather bare really, a framed poster of a Monet and artwork by the kids. In our bedroom we have a lovely original piece though by a friend of my mums, can't remember her name though Blush.

I'd love to find some nice originals or prints to put up. I also really really want a Kandinsky. Poster/print obviously as I am sadly not a millionaire but I have loved his work for years. A decent framed print though is well over £100 and I don't have that spare at the moment.

MarianneSolong · 20/03/2016 13:11

I particularly like the sunset.
