Surely decriminalisation is so imbalanced in favour of the people who run the 'industry' or patronise it. I cannot get beyond the casual attitude to the commodification of (mostly) women.
What do others think?

Have you read women in New Zealand who are in brothels talking about the reality of decriminalisation? I have it does not protect them. Pimps and punters can do pretty much what they want to women in prostitution. Nobody interferes.

In reality other industries where workers suffer high rates of workplace violence, are heavily regulated. The rate of murders of women in prostitution is shocking.

Also - I have a problem wit the state sanctioning such a profound commodification of women's bodies...I have problem with the state raising taxes from it

But that's been the case for years in the UK.

sounds like an argument for legalisation.

also strange, if you google the topic (new zealand decriminalisation prostitution) the first page of google hits are all positive.

Yes the pro sex trade organisations have money to promote their point of view. The realities of most women in prostitution gets ignored.

Legalisation? Look at how well that has went down in Amsterdam.
