After a breakup, I still have tickets for dream destination booked.

I know there are some good reasons why I should maybe go anyway but AIBU to not want to go?

Thanks for the reference to De Amicitia - I've enjoyed looking through it again.
In the dialogue, Cicero puts your quote in the mouth of his friend Laelius ( who in turn attributes it to a Greek thinker, Archytes of Tarentum).

Cicero is a brilliant writer and orator ( though not usually considered a philosopher nowadays) and here, as usual, is employing his skills, exaggerating to make his point. Ie, he's painting a picture of a world in which there are no other inhabitants at all. So it's a rhetorical point.

That said, one of Cicero's most appealing/ likeable characteristics as seen through his writings is certainly the value he puts on his friends and on friendship. Less admirable perhaps is his constant preoccupation with what others think of him!

If you have been out all day visiting places. Sometimes it is nice to buy some food from local supermarket and eat in hotel room and relax

If you eat where the locals eat, it is is usually cheaper than the tourist areas

With modern technology you will never be alone take mobile phone, lap top, i pad, blog about your travels via social media or keep a travel diary (good to look back on in the future) camera
Take a world travel adapter plug

Must have travel insurance

Good to have access to emergency source of money

Use free wi fi
Be wary of running up big bills via data roaming

Some hotels ask you to provide the paper booking form, even if you have pre paid before arriving via the internet

Be wary of people that try too hard to be "your friend", they may have be trying to scam or steal from you

Lots of people travel alone for business or pleasure - I hope you enjoy
