To ask if anyone else has a partner who does most of the cooking?

I've been catching up on post Xmas MN threads. I've not seen one yet where the DP/DH cooked the Xmas meal.

Likewise catering for guests and everyday cooking being the role of the woman appears to be the norm on MN.

Anyone else have a capable and enthusiast cook as a partner?

DH does pretty much all of the cooking in our house. I really don't enjoy it and he does so it makes sense that this is the way it is. He cooked Christmas dinner too.

DH cooked our Christmas meal and is generally a good cook. We make things together too when the recipe is a bit convoluted or interesting - venison wellington and croissants being a couple of e.gs. I do, on balance, more cooking than him but it is as I enjoy the process more and like to experiment more than him.

Yes, mine. Last night he did roast chicken, roast potatoes, veggies and Yorkshire puds. The only cooking I ever do is putting freezer food in the oven, which isn't very often.

Don't get me wrong, I can cook basic meals. But I don't enjoy it and prefer leaving the cooking to DH.

My Dad cooks in his house, Mum is rubbish at cooking! I mainly cook in mine because I have to eat LCHF and hubby can't get his head around it. Before we split it about 50:50

Exactly the same in our house too. I do most of the 'prep' work during the week as DH doesn't get home until 7, but we then finish off cooking the meal together. At weekends and during holidays we tend to share cooking but DH does all the 'faff' meals like big fried breakfasts and roasts.

Yes, mine does most of the cooking. It is easier for him to cook because he is a pescetarian and doesn't like most vegetables or mushrooms. H knows what he likes.

My DP does pretty much all the cooking here, he's an incredible cook. We also do a lot of cooking together - Christmas Dinner was a joint effort, we have a great time and I think we make a great team.

DH does about 90% of the cooking, I do the dishes with the kids.

Yup, dh does 95% of evening meals, and lunches on weekends. I hate cooking, dh likes it. My mum is Hmm at me about it, which gives me the rage.

I do the cooking at ours. But I enjoy it. I hate washing up so DH does it. Mil and fil have it the other way around as it suits them both better. One of my aunts and uncles also has the male cooks female washes division. Uncles mother did not want her sons 'forcing their wives into servitude' - great bolshy lady (still is too)

Yup DH does most of the cooking. He cooked for the crowd of relatives we had on Christmas Eve so I did Christmas Dinner for us and the DCs to give him a break.

Yes my DH is a real foodie and so loves to be the chef too!

I'm very lucky. There can be a down side too though. He hates it when I cook and is vey critical which makes me lose confidence, partly because he's better than me and partly because I am badly out of practice!

Dh cooked Christmas dinner in our house. He enjoys cooking and is very good at it whereas I can cook but don't really enjoy it and see it as a chore. He does everything to do with food in our house, he meal plans, does food shopping, cooks dinner. I cook for the dc if I am in from work first of have worked from home, or I will cook what's on the meal plan if he will be getting in late but he probably cooks 5-6 dinners out of 7. He also prepares lunch on the weekends. I always said I was going to marry a man who liked cooking as I don't like it but love eating.
I do all the tidying and laundry, and we both do the cleaning so it's a pretty even spilt of jobs around the house, we have done this since I went back to work f/t when dd started school. Before then I did more as a was a sahm, although he did do most of the cooking for us, and I just did more for the dc.

My DH is a superb cook. I'm barely allowed in the kitchen. he cooks the Christmas feast, much to my mother's and aunt's delight.

DH used to cook but since he got ill I have had to learn fast. He still does what he can though and often we do a joint effort.

I meal plan and order food online and Dh cooks it all and clears up the kitchen every day. I do baking and puddings.

We do about half each, but we specialise in different types of meal. As he always does roasts, he did the Christmas main dish, but I did the dessert.

DH does the vast majority of the cooking. He enjoys it and is a good cook, whereas I'm rubbish and find it tedious so it makes sense. We have only had Christmas at home once in all our years together (due to PIL guilt trips mainly Hmm ) and he did a lovely Christmas dinner. I tried to help but he kept putting a drink in my hand and telling me to "go and put my feet up" which I think was code for "bugger off, you're getting in my way" Grin

Why wouldn't DH be the main cook? In our house DH does the majority of the cooking. We both have always worked full time but he is usually home earlier than me and I've worked away from home regularly. I sort out the online shop and do the clearing up after meals. If we're having a particularly busy time I'll do some batch cooking and fill the freezer.

DH is a great cook, does most of the cooking.
He made beef Wellington Christmas Eve, full turkey lunch on Christmas Day and then left a fridge filled with leftovers, a huge Cumberland pie and pate for our son who is dog sitting while we are away.
I'm more of a 'heat stuff up' cook. I don't enjoy it.

DH is the cook in our house too. He enjoys it, is good at it, I'm happy to let him feed us. We used to share the cooking till DC came along, but he's much fussier than me about things he will and won't eat so this makes sense. The downside is I feel like I've forgotten how, and have a bit of a panic on nights he's out! I used to be a good cook but I'm out of practice.

Yes, my dp cooks more and does more housework. I need to get better on the tidying front but he's happy cooking.
