My db, dsil, and two dn just turned up to spend the weekend.
I am exhausted after being up late last night, looking after my own kids all day, and getting the house ready for their arrival. I was going to order (and pay) for a takeaway for dinner.

Unfortunately it is a hours wait for the delivery and the children were hungry now, so I cooked some pasta and added pesto and cream. Apparently the children aren't used to this kind of food, their grandma who lives with them usually makes sure they eat better....... .
I can punch dsil right??!

Carabos - I'm guessing owls are for girls. Because birds. Children's clothes seem to have fucked up but utterly rigid rules about what animals boys and girls are allowed to wear. As far as I can tell, boys get sharks, dinos, dogs, snakes, crocodiles, lions, tigers, whales, tortoises and any insects except butterflies, bees and ladybirds. Girls get horses, cats, bunnies, butterflies and ladybirds, birds, bees.

DS has worn clothes with cats on but only from the girls section.

Owl-gate was because the bedding was too girlie... It is navy blue and has spiderwebs all over it too
I was really annoyed at this point and suggested I could find her a blue beach towel if that would be more acceptable. You will all be glad to know my nephew has slept in the bedding and woke up and is still a boy... .
It has been a eye opening weekend and she has annoyed me so much, but the gender specific bedding and toys is the worst. My daughter loves cars and Dsil's pants nearly shot up her arse when she seem the hotwheels set Santa brought!

I have to come out of hiding, just to applaud your DD and her love of Hotwheels and owls!

Next time she mentions it, just tell your SiL what I tell people that say stuff like this - there is no such thing as girlie toys, there is no such thing as boys' stuff! My DS loves pink and dolls and Batman and the Hulk. My DD loves blue and scooters and science stuff and Frozen!
