AIBU?

Genuinely don't know who is being unreasonable here. (Puppy related).

I'll try to keep this short.

A friend of a friend (FoF) is a backstreet breeder-being an animal lover I 100% disapprove.

One pup of the last litter was rejected by Mum.

I was advised about this in the middle of the night, pup was one week old, I went to emergency vet and purchased pup formula and rushed over with it.

Three days later, I was called by FoF, pup won't take formula, again, me being an animal lover-morals told me to go and help. I went to supermarket, purchased greek yogurt, syrup, a syringe, goats milk, stuff I knew is okay for pup to have, drove the 45 mins there to help, got pup to feed, came back.

BSB then tried to raise pup herself but couldn't cope with litter of pups, two other dogs, Mum etc. Pup fell and hurt herself few times and also had narrow misses with Mum who was still out to kill her. I took pup on myself. I live with a friend who I checked with if this was okay and if he was willing to be part of it as obviously he would be, living with us both. He doesn't work-I do so I had to ensure he could and was willing, to take care of her when I wasn't about.

He's also daft for animals, like me and agreed and has done the care when I've not been here.

Since then I've taken pup to vet twice, taken care of her, done night feeds, bought food and more formula you get the picture.
I realise, I didn't have to do any of this and it has all been my choice.

Now, my friend and I have a dog each, so we live together with our two dogs. Luckily both okay with pup.

Friend's said he doesn't want pup to go back to BSB, doesn't want her to end up in a potentially dodgy home, thus will happily keep her himself. However, BSB wants paying for pup.

BSB has now sold all other pups, and has said she'll give my friend a discount, meaning instead of paying £4-£600 , he can have pup for £200.

People aware of the situation have all said, pup would be dead without mine and his intervention, therefore BSB shouldn't charge him at all.

I honestly do not know. Some people have said haggle, others have said point blank pup should be given to him, as the situation means pup would have died if not for our intervention.

What do you think?

If you're not too fed up of sending PMs I'd like one too please.

Such people really should be reported. They do not have the animals welfare as a priority.

Don't be too bothered about a PM, it's not that exciting. My advice to the OP from earlier in the thread still stands.

This woman doesn't care a jot about the dog. I hope that you told her to whistle for it and then reported her to the rspca .

Please can I have an update too. I acquired my puppy in very similar circumstances to you almost 5 years ago now. She has behavioral difficulties with other dogs, and has required a lot of love time training and patience, but she has come on so well and has been worth all the work. I wouldn't change her for the world! I sincerely hope you have a good outcome.

Please pm this lurker too. I have a wee rescue from an arsehole of a bsb. He was terrified of other dogs but I look after dogs and he's come on wonderfully.

Another lurker, totally shocked at her cheek, and at what the 'trainer' told you.

If you get a chance, I'd love a PM, but I can see you're inundated. I can't offer any practical help, but I'd be able to give you a decent estimate of what you should be billing her, if that any use.
