So embarrassed

Notwithoutareason · 23/12/2015 17:39

Got some vouchers for dsis and Bil for Xmas for a restaurant as they like eating out.

Gave them today and they look up the food rating and it was low. Dsis was disgusted and gave them back saying "we can't even re gift that"

I'm so embarrassed :(

Did not occur to me to check first as although we had not eaten there ourselves it had been recommended to us and was local so we thought it was a nice present
I feel mortified

I am foregin so always thought that food rating one was good and 5 was bad...you can imagine the very many low rated places i have eaten at over the years. Xmas Grin

Bogeyface · 23/12/2015 18:52

What.A.Fucking.BITCH!!!

As for "We cant even regift that"....words fails me. That would be the last Xmas present she got from me, ever. Fucking ungrateful cow.

FWIW I would be really upset too, so I understand your reaction.

TartanBirdFeeder · 23/12/2015 18:53

Xmas certainly brings out the worst in some people doesn't it? YANBU, your sister is though.

scrivette · 23/12/2015 18:53

How can anyone be so rude? Shock

I hope you have a lovely evening out yourself.

needastrongone · 23/12/2015 18:56

I am quite simply astonished that some one could and would be so rude.

OP, please show this thread to your sister, the response is overwhelming.

Notwithoutareason · 23/12/2015 18:56

Bil said nothing , dsis is a bit of a snob but nothing this bad before

OP posts:
Bogeyface · 23/12/2015 18:58

Well she is going to be a fucking hungry snob now isnt she?

I am not normally a fan of passive aggressive Facebook posts, but in this case I think that you must! Go out, photo the meal, talk about how amazing it was and how sad you are that some people are such snobs they wont try new places. Wink

ShelaghTurner · 23/12/2015 18:59

Fucking hell! Just in case you need another voice to tell you not to be embarrassed! What utter shitehawks they are, I'm stunned! Never ever ever ever give them a present ever again. Any time you're tempted, put the money in an envelope and take yourselves out for a nice meal instead in memory of their cuntpuffin-ness. What a pair of fucknuggets...

Bogeyface · 23/12/2015 19:02

I cant help thinking that the "we cant even regift it" comment means that most of their gifts get passed on if they dont pass muster.

I still cant believe she just left it behind! I am genuinely gobsmacked by this!

bumblebeerat · 23/12/2015 19:05

How rude! I can't believe they just left them! Go and have a great time!

Eminado · 23/12/2015 19:05

Me too Bogey, me too!!! Shock

FatherToddUnctious · 23/12/2015 19:07

I'm truly gobsmacked Shock Angry

Send her a link to this thread. What an utter cow. You did a lovely thing, don't feel embarrassed Flowers

Wagglebees · 23/12/2015 19:09

Wow, that's bad! Really bad. Shock

Never give them anything ever again.

It's not really relevant but I want to know what they've bought you?

ouryve · 23/12/2015 19:10

If it's anything like these places, then I can understand your sister's dismay.

Otherwise, she was very rude about a thoughtful and generous gift.

buildingamystery · 23/12/2015 19:10

Very rude of her and don't blame you for feeling hurt.

That aside, am always amazed at how few people check out hygiene ratings. There are numerous restaurants with 1 and star ratings that are still popular. Wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.

PegsPigs · 23/12/2015 19:11

You spent £100 on her and she responds with that?? Cheeky bitch.

diddl · 23/12/2015 19:16

I'm just gobsmacked that people this rude & nasty exist!

Notwithoutareason · 23/12/2015 19:17

The gifts they got us are wrapped and under the tree I haven't opened them yet !
Tempted now though

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 23/12/2015 19:18

How come they opened theirs but you didn't open yours?

Notwithoutareason · 23/12/2015 19:21

They opened theirs today as it was inside their Xmas card and dsis asked where the present was. I said in the card and they could open it as I thought perhaps they'd want to use it before Xmas as bil is working a few days next week
Thought they might like a meal out before Xmas because of that

OP posts:
Sparklingbrook · 23/12/2015 19:23

She asked where the present was? Shock

After the comments I would have opened my presents there and then I think. And given them my opinion.

ghostspirit · 23/12/2015 19:23

think thats one of the worst things i have read on mn. maybe you could use them yourself op or is there someone you know who maybe cant get out much and would really like them.

does everyone tread eggs shells round her to make sure they buy they right thing. i would not buy her anything again

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 23/12/2015 19:24

Wow that is breathtakingly rude.

Bogeyface · 23/12/2015 19:24

If she asks what you thought of her gift to you "Not much, sent it to Oxfam"

And then do not respond again.

redgoat · 23/12/2015 19:28

Beyond rude. I am absolutely stunned that someone could be so fucking rude!!

Definitely use the voucher yourself! If you're in the South East, I'll come and be ultra grateful - I love curry!

And I'd get her the shittiest of shitty birthday and Christmas presents next year.
