Would be not to headbutt a barman.

fascicle how many more examples would you like of where women's rights have been impacted by the rush to accommodate men who have decided that "woman" is a feeling?

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 10:59

enjolrass I believe the argument is that anyone who identfies as a woman is exactly what a woman is so there is no erosion of "women's" rights.

but in a lot of these cases they still have a penis. In Tara's case, they won't even file paperwork to legally be a woman.

I am a brunette. If I say I feel blonde, I am not blonde until I go to the hairdressers and become blonde.

Me saying it, doesn't make it true

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 11:01

Why are female and males prisoners kept separate?

In general. Why was that decision made?

howtorebuild · 09/12/2015 11:08

What about black rights? www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/33137722/rachel-dolezal-civil-rights-activist-quits-naacp-after-black-row

Well, yes, but that is utter bullshit and every feminist knows it is. The suffragettes didn't fight for the voting rights of men who thought they were women, they fought for voting rights for actual women, regardless the identification. Because women cannot identify out of oppression. We are oppressed because of our biology, not because we chose to identify as women.

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 12:37

The problem is that I am sure people will say 'most transgender aren't doing it to get into changing rooms with women for sexual reasons'

And I accept that.

However, I live in an area where the police wouldn't challenge paedophiles, because they were scared of being accused of racism. Because they used the excuse 'it's out culture'.

Not all Asian men are paedophiles.

Something needs to be in place to stop the few weirdos that will use the excuse 'I identify as a woman' to stop women and young girls being exploited.

It's the same mistake happening all over again. No one wants to challenge it so thy can't be labelled as prejudice.

Let's all sit back and be enlightened and fuck the women it effects.

JessicasRabbit · 09/12/2015 12:44

enjol, that was the point I was trying to make yesterday.

Prisons are segregated by sex to reduce the instances of sex and rape. Many men in prison wouldn't rape a woman but we accept a blanket rule for them to protect women from the horrible men that would. So why is it so outlandish to suggest that there is a blanket rule for MTT too?

noeffingidea · 09/12/2015 12:47

fascicle by 'period of adjustment* presumably you mean the period of time where girls and women are told that their feelings and rights to space and privacy aren't important and just to 'suck it up'.

VestalVirgin · 09/12/2015 13:02

Let's all sit back and be enlightened and fuck the women it effects.

That is basically the essence of it, yes.

So why is it so outlandish to suggest that there is a blanket rule for MTT too?

Because those poor MtT cannot be put into men's locker rooms and men's prisons, as they could be harmed by those ... harmless men who are not at all more violent than women.

Something doesn't add up here.

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 13:21

vestal and people who claim to women and want to be treated as women are pushing this as well.

This is giving me the rage tbh.

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 09/12/2015 13:24

We shouldn't put transwomen in women's prisons for the same reason as we don't put any other kind of man in women's prisons. If we as a society have decided to segregate prisioners by sex then that's what we should do.

VestalVirgin · 09/12/2015 13:38

If we as a society have decided to segregate prisioners by sex then that's what we should do.

Only that, apparently, the UK has now decided to segregate prisoners by "gender" instead.
Which makes no sense whatsoever.

I need to research whether that's the case where I live, too, but I am frightened of what I might find out.

Maybe I will not dare to take part in demonstrations and public protests anymore, as I could be locked up in a cell with a male rapist.

They are doing a good job of silencing women.

HermioneWeasley · 09/12/2015 14:07

I am currently identifying as a 6 foot tall size zero 18 year old and it's terribly Hermione-phobic of Victoria's Secret to say I'm not.

Sue them!

They obviously fail at providing appropriate clothes for 6 foot tall size zero 18 year olds of all heights and sizes.

Have a look at Kate next to the trader, can you imagine her in a cell trying to avoid any physical altercation with the trader?

noeffingidea · 09/12/2015 14:32

What gives me the rage (well not rage, just pissed off) is when so many women support this.
Recently I found myself on a trans subreddit and a transwoman of a few months (no surgery) was asking which bathroom they should use. One woman actually said 'use the womens. You're as much a woman as I am'.

HermioneWeasley · 09/12/2015 14:33

howto I love the fact he's "dressed as a woman". Yes, when I worked in the city I always wore a jacket, tie, denim hotpants and heels!

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 15:28

No women dress like that.

But to be fair, that seems enough to pass yourself as a woman now Confused

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 15:29

You're as much a woman as I am'.

I really think a lot of people say this sort of thing to seem like they are cool and down with the kids. Hmm

Dipankrispaneven · 09/12/2015 15:48

If we as a society have decided to segregate prisoners by sex then that's what we should do.

But, since we haven't, presumably we should carry on as we are?

Enjolrass · 09/12/2015 15:57

What's the point of segregation in prisons? Why not just have mixed ones depending on the crime?

noeffingidea · 09/12/2015 16:07

enjolrass I think that was a young woman. She just came across as stupid to me, as if she didn't understand very basic science.

Some UK, rather than US, cases would be useful. If a situation has not been well handled by an organisation or institution, that does not mean that transgender rights must automatically erode women's rights. And whether or not womens rights are reduced by transgender rights in any given situation is somewhat subjective.

men who have decided that "woman" is a feeling?

Is that how you define transwomen/male to female transsexuals?

HermioneWeasley · 10/12/2015 22:04

I'm not sure why examples from North America aren't relevant? Do we not care about the right of the millions of women and girls there?

But here you go - a nice UK example

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2525441/Transgender-murderer-Paris-Green-moved-womens-prison-sex-inmates.html

Yes, I view trans women as a subset of men. Anyone who says they feel like a woman and therefore they are what a woman is, has made a nonsense of the biological word. Of course there are TW who say they are not "women" but TW and that's it's own special but different thing, and I would agree with them and celebrate their decision to live their life in a way that makes them happy. But don't tell me that a TW's womanhood is as valid as mine, because it isn't.
