That Tyson Fury is a Dickhead

He is a good boxer, granted.He should so be removed from the shortlist of sports personality of the year and put up for Dickhead of the year! According to him Jessica Ennis-Hill "slaps up good" and his personal beliefs are that " A women's best place is in the kitchen and on her back". Even if he thinks it's just harmless banter and a part of his show man personality, he is still a dickhead for saying these things out aloud!

His and his wife's views are entirely in keeping with strict traveller culture though - doesn't mean I agree with him in any way.

The way he met his wife is like an episode of Big Fat Gypsy Weddings. I'm guessing she is pretty much entirely within the culture and socialised to want to have a gazillion kids, no education (prob left school very very young) and spend her life cleaning Sad

I kind of like him for being just what he is. At least there are no games or pretences, it's honestly all out there. I know it's very un-Mumsnetty, but I can still like people who have stupid opinions.

Wondering how the rest of you get thru life, tbh

SPOTY is not about anything other than what that sportsperson has achieved in the year.

As people, I don't think Lewis Hamilton or andy Murray are people to aspire to, yet they've both won, quite justifiably, based on their sporting achievements.

fury is a tosser but he beat Klitschko very recently and I fear no one else in the line up has beaten him in terms of sporting achievements,

Is it also part of his "traveller heritage" to disregard the social expectations of the society he has chosen to join?
His attitude and beliefs may be aceptable and non-offensive in the community he grew up in, but if he is aspiring to be a role model for boys in communities other than his own, then he needs to display some sensitivity to the way in which his expressed opinions will be received.

Bear, that's simply not true. Kevin Sinfield has had a massively successful last season winning all 3 available trophies in his sport this year. He also became the 3rd highest points scorer ever in his sport.

I am hard on the campaign trail with this one 😂😂😂😂

saw a few proggrames about him quite a funny guy

and he's achieved lots and has injected interest in tennis again

im sure it's his flat voice that makes him sound boring

What Fury says or does outside the ring is unlikle to affect his performance in SPOTY.

Of course Andy Murray has a personality. Just because he doesn't engage in the tedious attention seeking gobshitery we have come to expect of many modern celebrities, doesn't mean he has no personality.
