This letter of complaint was brought to my attention today.

As I rule I do not watch Jeremy Kyle as I find the man vile however his treatment of this women was disgusting and I think his show should be axed.
The author urges anyone else who feel as strongly as she does to complain to ITV, I will be sending my e-mail today.

to the show. However it is not all of it. The full show can be found on ITV player if you subscribe it is the 12\11\15 show.

One gave me a funny look in London Zoo in '82 Garlick. I'm a fantastic grudge-holder Smile

HelenaDove · 14/11/2015 21:54

Exactly zaalitje He DOES hate women.

HelenaDove · 14/11/2015 21:57

StanSmith thats great news.

I can't help but wonder how his childhood panned out, and what his issues are, because clearly the man is teeming with them, and can't seem to help projecting them all over everyone else.

TelephoneIgnoringMachine · 15/11/2015 09:27

I've had a (standard, probably automated) response from Ofcom.

RebootYourEngine · 15/11/2015 09:34

I had the same email from itv. I wonder how long before itv cracks and someones gets an email agrreing with them and telling them that they too think jk is a vile bastard.

Sallyingforth · 15/11/2015 10:26

You are wasting your time complaining to ITV. It's their programme that earns them good money and they will never make changes voluntarily.

It's the job of the regulator Ofcom to investigate complaints, and the more they receive the better. When you complain they send a formal acknowledgement. The investigation takes longer but they will publish the results in due course.

CheersMedea · 17/11/2015 16:07

I disagree with this. It's right that a complaint should always go to OFCOM first and/or as well.

But broadcasters want to broadcast programmes that advertisers will advertise in. If they receive lots of complaints and fear viewers will tune out (or an anti-programme bandwagon will start rolling) they will take notice.

Complain to OFCOM first and foremost, but it's not right that complaining to the broadcaster is a waste of time.

Any news from MN on this yet?

StanSmithsChin · 19/11/2015 07:43

No not yet. Should I report the thread again?

Ofcom have received many complaints on this program and will no doubt report in due course.
They have just censured another program that received much criticism on MN and elsewhere - the Alex Dyke program on breast feeding. I posted about this on here a few hours ago

Notabeararaccoon · 19/11/2015 18:20

Actually, what I think is almost worse, is that the smug little asshat had a programme a couple of days later which featured one of his 'saint Jeremy of the fallen/hopeless/brave' stories, about a woman who had suffered the most horrific abuse (case of Sean Johnston). He kept saying things like 'this woman, she gave birth, and she RAN!' I hated it. Yes, she was amazingly brave to escape, but it was almost like anyone who DOESNT (read, feels they can't, are too scared, too cowed, or too anything) isnt brave, doesn't deserve sympathy etc. 'look how bad she had it! She still escaped'. And - though she said she wanted to, and although details were in the press - he went through the detail, almost pruriently, and the viewer didn't need to hear that to know she was brave, or the poor woman's brave message, which was essentially, 'get out if your instinct tells you to, I ignored my instinct'.

As for the poor woman referred to in the original post, the pig ignorant misogynist twat doesn't seem to realise that even as late as the 1970's men were told to put the family home into their name only so the wife wouldn't have a claim on it. Women were sacked (with no recourse) for being pregnant, often didn't get custody of children in divorce, domestic violence was barely prosecuted IF investigated (women were often told shit like 'well you must have done something to provoke him love'), marital rape was legal, and divorcees wouldn't get hired. Yep, you should have just walked out love, life would have been EASY.

Notabeararaccoon · 19/11/2015 18:21

Oh, and have complained to ofcom

Garlick · 20/11/2015 12:06

I've just read the Mirror's reports on that case, Notabear. The police told her there wasn't enough evidence to prosecute - even though the man had been streaming his abuse of her? Staggering Angry

The Mirror, too, reported on Kyle's being 'visibly moved' (when she said something nice about him!) and failed to mention anything resembling the helpful message that she wanted to convey to other women.

I'm so upset for her, still in constant fear and cutting herself to cope with the feelings.

Jux · 20/11/2015 14:08

I reported the thread too, and MN have said they'll take a look next week.

Writerwannabe83 · 20/11/2015 14:15

I used to like watching Jeremy Kyle but now I think he's the most vile, arrogant tosser and I just feel pissed off whenever I see him on the television.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 20/11/2015 14:22

You mean you've actually only found that out, Writer.

Writerwannabe83 · 20/11/2015 14:27

Over the last few months Grin

HelenaDove · 20/11/2015 16:10

Brilliant post Notabear.

stopfuckingshoutingatme · 20/11/2015 16:26

reading about her makes me so pleased we are doing that work shoebox for women's refuge, there women literally turn up with nothing but the clothes on their backs

fuck though- harrowing

GreenFinnedDemon · 20/11/2015 18:47

He's a vile smug little man. It really annoys me when he asks a question then butts in talks over her whilst she's trying to answer.
I've noticed too how he speaks much nicely to the younger attractive females.
The mans a 1st class pig!
