This letter of complaint was brought to my attention today.

As I rule I do not watch Jeremy Kyle as I find the man vile however his treatment of this women was disgusting and I think his show should be axed.
The author urges anyone else who feel as strongly as she does to complain to ITV, I will be sending my e-mail today.

to the show. However it is not all of it. The full show can be found on ITV player if you subscribe it is the 12\11\15 show.

JK is a bit of a guilty pleasure of mine. I did dip in yesterday and saw this part of the show. It was dreadful. It looked like he was very angry about something else and he decided to give this poor woman both barrels. Awful, awful treatment of a woman who had experienced abuse in her first marriage. He even dared to question why she had more children with another man. There was no recognition that she had left a violent marriage and had gone on to find some level of stability in her life. Dreadful victim blaming.

I have complained to Ofcom. My very first Ofcom complaint.

LucasIsMyMuse · 13/11/2015 16:27

Jesus, what a wanker. Angry How dare he speak to her like that, god I can't believe anyone involved in the production of this show allowed this to happen. They should all be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

GruntledOne · 13/11/2015 16:29

It's so obvious that he was interrupting that woman because she wasn't giving the right answers. What he wanted was feeble answers which would enable him to pile in even more, he didn't want to hear answers which actually brought home the fact that abused women can't just walk out, and that there was a perfectly good reason why this woman was able to keep the children she had after she finally did manage to leave her abuser.

I don't doubt the sincerity of the daughter, but I can't see that she would have been offered back to her mother - it wouldn't have happened whilst she was with the father, and by the time the mother left the adoption would have gone through. But I take it that JK's researchers didn't want to bother to check that out because it wouldn't have fitted the narrative that he wanted.

MrsMolesworth · 13/11/2015 16:29

I used to work in a centre for vulnerable women with known psychiatric problems. JK researchers were constantly ringing up to ask if any of our clients would like to make a bit of money and come on the show. We had a sign in the office that said 'If JK ring, tell them to f**k off.' They actively sought vulnerable people to jeer at and goad, knowing that the fifty quid they'd bung them was enough of an incentive if they were desperately hard up.

GruntledOne · 13/11/2015 16:32

Is there an email address for Ofcom? We need to complain to ITV, but I suspect Ofcom complaints will have more effect.

spanisharmada · 13/11/2015 16:33

Have also complained about this, he really is vile.

StanSmithsChin · 13/11/2015 16:37

Shock MrsM

HelenaDove · 13/11/2015 16:40

"Never any mention of how JK ran off with another mans wife after he married them for a radio promotion is there?

Or of how he financially abused his first wife due to his "gambling addiction"

Id say the prick needs educating on domestic abuse and reproductive coercion but hes too far gone a misogynist and far too thick.

And Graham is a disgrace to the counselling profession.

I was going to start a thread about this but came on here to see it had already been done. MN brilliantly on the ball about this subject as usual.

IthoughtATMwasacashpoint · 13/11/2015 16:41

That is appalling - but unsurprising.

JK knows to a nicety how to play people for maximum effect, he bullies and hectors and IMHO should not be broadcasting.

I hope OFCOM do something to stop this. I'm glad you reported it.

Sallyingforth · 13/11/2015 16:48

Use the Ofcom form linked above.
There's no point at all in complaining to ITV as they will just file and forget. But they do have to answer to the Regulator

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 13/11/2015 16:53

Awful.

He shouldn't be on air.

StanSmithsChin · 13/11/2015 16:53

I can only imagine the impact his scathing vitriol could have on a victim of DV who is stuck in such a similar hell right now. He basically said it is all the victims fault.

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 13/11/2015 16:57

Oh it's you Stan

Good day's work Smile

TheWrathofNaan · 13/11/2015 17:01

I have complained to ofcom too.

StanSmithsChin · 13/11/2015 17:02

Hi Strawberry

I have never liked the man I think he is scum but his behavior on this episode is not only damaging to the women who appeared but also any other DV victim watching.

Fabellini · 13/11/2015 17:05

For the first time in my life I have complained.

LucasIsMyMuse · 13/11/2015 17:07

I have complained to Ofcom now too.

StrawberryTeaLeaf · 13/11/2015 17:07

I'm watching it now.

How the hell did an entire production team thing this was okay?

EduCated · 13/11/2015 17:09

Fucking hell. Just absolutely fucking hell.

Bastardshittits · 13/11/2015 17:20

I am agog. 36yrs ago the world was a very different place with regards to domestic violence.

SoDiana · 13/11/2015 17:25

I always have to flick channels when he is on because the shouting terrorises me.
I don't know who could watch it.

Houseworkavoider · 13/11/2015 17:26

Who the hell does he think he is!
What a nasty, horrid, inadequate charlatan.
I hope itv pull his show soon.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 13/11/2015 17:31

Urgh, he is just a bully. There is no other word for it. He knew that she probably wouldn't be assertive with him due to her background and took full advantage. Which makes him a bully, doesn't it, because they choose vulnerable people to exploit?

I have only watched the clip rather than the full show but I think that was enough. Hardly balanced journalism. and yes, as someone else says, he cuts her off when she tries to go into detail about her story, because it's not heading towards the right narrative.

Jesus, he can't even get the daughter's name right. And the birth mother very generously lets him away with that. I would have been on him like a tonne of bricks, telling him that if he can't even get a simple name right, what makes the audience think he has the rest of the facts right? but she has probably had years of not feeling brave enough to answer back to a man.

Vile, disgusting bully, and no skills whatsoever as a presenter or journalist. Get him off the telly, he doesn't belong there.

bushtailadventures · 13/11/2015 17:33

I have complained, first time ever. I can't believe anyone involved in that show thought bullying a victim was a good idea, but knowing the Kyle show, it doesn't surprise me. Odious, hateful man.
