Today he has, dug potatoes and carrots for 5 people out of the garden, washed peeled and chopped them (for tomorrows tea), been to visit his mother, cooked tonight's tea and washed up (I prepared it) and will walk the dog at 9 tonight

Actually, writing it down it looks ok, but he will have spent about 7 hours watching tv by the time he goes to bed tonight, that's what pisses me off

I drove our DD to work at 8, took the dog with us and walked him in the woods, 45 min. got back, had porridge (forgot, he makes porridge every morning). put yesterday's ironing away, prepared part of tomorrows tea, read paper, vacuumed 4 rooms, watched last nights strictly, took dog for second walk for 90 mins, collected DD from work at 5

So you've not really done much more than him really by the time the day has finished. I don't think eating porridge counts as a chore.

PegsPigs · 08/11/2015 20:10

Sorry but you sound like YABU. Sounds like you and he have got similar amounts done. Was there something you wanted him to do but he didn't because he was watching telly?

Janeymoo50 · 08/11/2015 20:10

Sounds fine to me..

trashcanjunkie · 08/11/2015 20:10

YABU for chopping veg 24 hours before use. All the vitamins start to die (or something)

Why do you think that's not enough? What should he have done? What have you done.

Mine is cooking the tea and we've done bot all else except he's unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher and we've both walked the dogs and been out for Sunday lunch.

I have put a wash load on and started the tumble drier.

Crankycunt · 08/11/2015 20:11

So six of one half a dozen of the other.

Sanctimony isn't a good look.

Sallyhasleftthebuilding · 08/11/2015 20:12

Update ... he has moved to sofa whilst i put kids to bed, and put top gear on ... turning my program off.

pudcat · 08/11/2015 20:12

Good gracious, he has done a lot. Stop moaning and be grateful he didn't watch tv all day.

Enjolrass · 08/11/2015 20:12

Sounds like you have both done similar.

Yabu

AlwaysHope1 · 08/11/2015 20:13

Oh fgs you haven't really done much more than him. You sound annoying as its a Sunday and a rest day.

CadleCrap · 08/11/2015 20:13

Lol how you manage to include the important tasks of reading the paper and watching Strictly in your list, but his is just watching TV.
YABU

80sWaistcoat · 08/11/2015 20:15

Didn't get up till really late, I made veg omelette and he sorted out his over complicated washing syste, He drove me to pick my car up where I'd abandoned it last night while out with girls. We went for a walk. I made tea he hoovered. Sat on sofa now both watching crap.

It's been a non day.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 08/11/2015 20:16

Hmm so part of your busy day op was eating porridge - which he had made - reading the paper and watching strictly??

TurnOffTheTv · 08/11/2015 20:16

But if you're putting the kids to bed, how can you watch your programme?

Unless there is an enormous backstory to this you're starting to sound a bit odd.

CheesyNachos · 08/11/2015 20:16

My DH got up at 6, made me coffee in bed. Then sat and finished off a project bid. Then bleached DS's mattress because the bloody cat pissed on it. Then ate my dinner and gave DS a bath.

In between he watched the Simpsons marathon.

I got up, finished off a project bid, made breakfast, made soup, ironed, took DS out to soft play, made dinner, did DS homework.

In between I watched food network and read a Victoria Clayton book.

We were both busy and DH gets extra points for dealing with the cat piss. That took hours, washing and drying a mattress.

cardibach · 08/11/2015 20:17

You can't watch your programme while putting kids to bed, so as long as you don't mind doing that (and if you do, have you asked him to do it? Is it your turn?) he might as well put something on he wants to watch.
You both seem to have done about the same. YABVU.

Candleabras · 08/11/2015 20:17

I mentioned the porridge because it was another thing he did that I didn't give him credit for. it wasn't a chore!

it's probably the amount of time in front of the tv that annoys me if I'm honest.

My DH wins the thread. He's been asleep all day after night shifts. Got home at 9.30am, went straight to bed, got up at 4.30pm, gave Ds his tea and went to work at 6pm.

Cirsium · 08/11/2015 20:18

I, amongst other things, walked the dog for just over an hour. It was great, not a chore at all to get out in the fresh air and watch him zooming around happily while getting some exercise and a rare break from baby DD. DH does it most days as he has more time during the day (works evenings)

AlwaysHope1 · 08/11/2015 20:19

Why does him watching tv bother you?

cardibach · 08/11/2015 20:20

But you watched to too - and want to watch more! What have you done for relaxation between your activities! What would you rather he did?

WhereDoAllTheCalculatorsGo · 08/11/2015 20:20

are you confusing your DH with a DS? Is he perhaps a child who needs a list of chores or does he just need to justify himself to you?
Can you imagine if a man had written this post about his wife?!
Get over yourself OP, YABU

TurnOffTheTv · 08/11/2015 20:20

Why is it annoying you? Unless he's sat on his arse whilst you're wrangling with three kids under 5 (for example) what exactly is the problem?

Did you need something doing?

Fairylea · 08/11/2015 20:20

Not seeing an issue with any of that!

Dh and I have been home today and we have two dc and apart from the two loads of washing I've done and the hoovering he's done all we have done is the park with the dc and watch tv (and play with dc). Surely that's what weekends are for!?

Judydreamsofhorses · 08/11/2015 20:22

We didn't get up until about 11 - DP made tea and bacon sandwiches, then has pottered about watching sport and playing FIFA. I cooked dinner for tonight, nipped out to M&S to collect an order in the rain/howling wind, then had a bath - he hoovered while I was in the bath. He's now gone to ASDA while I loll on the sofa watching X Factor. I think we're pretty well matched.
