Grin Hi Steve.

Destinysdaughter · 10/11/2015 20:59

Am so shocked about the new info about 'Oops I did it again' played by Louis Armstrong in the 1930s, I had to go off and google it. And here it is..!

jenpetronus · 16/11/2015 20:41

Why would you think he was dead Netball?! As a member of his fan club since the 80's and in regular contact with other fans who have been too I can assure you he's very healthy! One of the highlights of my year was seeing him live in April - first time since 1988 - and worth every single one of the 500 miles I travelled from France!!

Krampus · 16/11/2015 22:07

I never realised Song to the Siren by This Mortal Coil was a cover.

Nick Cave doing Something Gotten Hold of My Heart by Nick Cave.

Tom Waits doing the Disney Heigh Ho it's Off To Work We Go
I really need to get hold of this album again
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stay_Awake:_Various_Interpretations_of_Music_from_Vintage_Disney_Films

Am I showing my age Grin

Camper Van Beethoven doing Black Flags Wasted.

Krampus · 16/11/2015 22:09

Doh Roger Cook wrote Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart.

Krampus · 16/11/2015 22:30

OMG

The Pogues - And The Band Played Waltzing Matilda - Written by Eic Bugle in 1971.

They obviously did loads of covers but never thought that was one.

DoctorTwo · 16/11/2015 23:56

A few cover versions I thought were originals:-

Take The Skinheads Bowling-Manic Street Preachers (originally by Camper van Beethoven)
Diane-Therapy? (originally by HuskerDu)
Most of American IV, The Man Comes Around. I knew they were covers, but Johnny Cash made them his. Especially Hurt.

SwedishEdith · 17/11/2015 00:01

Just checked (because I love the song) and The Man Comes Around was written by Johnny Cash. Smile

LineyReborn · 17/11/2015 00:05

Doctor Two, I have that original L.P. by Camper van Beethoven. I am ancient.

DoctorTwo · 17/11/2015 06:46

I knew that Edith, in fact it was the song he was most proud of writing.

Liney, you are so not old. 'Cos if you are so am I. And I'm not. :o

Krampus · 17/11/2015 06:46

I never knew the Manics did take the Skinheads bowling Shock need to google that later. That was one of my favourite driving songs when I was in my yooth.

Off topic but I loved Sad lovers Waltz by Camper.

Krampus · 17/11/2015 07:13

Swedish I enjoyed reading that, who knew that Kicking Against the Pricks was a bilical reference.

Anniegetyourgun · 17/11/2015 07:28

I did, cos I is educated innit.

VagueIdeas · 17/11/2015 08:53

I never knew the Manics did take the Skinheads bowling

They recorded two versions - one was a b side and then many years later they re-recorded it for their b sides album.

The first version was still better Grin

SwedishEdith · 17/11/2015 17:52
