I'm not. I know I'm not. I'm personally going to have a glass of wine and celebrate there being a significant amount of egg on the Tories' faces.

My mil has a great saying..."circumstances alter cases"
So true.
My sis and bil live in a massive house, drive new cars and bil worked as a self employed IT consultant. Earned shed loads.
Then in March this year he had a massive stroke at 38.
Circumatances change. And often when we least expect it.
The lack of compassion and - quite frankly - sheer envy and jealousy of people on threads like these make me feel quite nauseated.

Jux · 29/10/2015 18:00

Dawndonna, I am humbled by people like you. Flowers

DraculasDixieNormas · 29/10/2015 18:06

some people really are vile

ssd · 29/10/2015 19:30

agree, some people really are vile and I think when you are that nasty outwardly you aren't happy inwardly.

dawndonna, please don't let that poster upset you, easy to say I know, but they aren't worth your time or effort.

needastrongone · 29/10/2015 19:44

dawn Flowers

badders I am with you all the way on this last comment.

I stepped off this thread, then stepped back and read the last page.

Many would say that we are in an enviable position financially, wasn't always this way, and not so long ago either. I have't suddenly lost any empathy for those that don't, and believe me, comfort makes you complacent very easily. The lack of compassion shown by some on here simply astounds me.

And saddens me greatly.

Darkbehindthecurtain · 29/10/2015 19:56

Of course I know your circumstances - you've repeated them plenty of times on here, and it doesn't change my view that the welfare state in this country pampers people to a ridiculous extent so that we have people on here on welfare boasting about big detached houses they may or may not own outright. Crazy.

StormyLlewelyn · 29/10/2015 20:02

Why shouldn't someone on welfare have a big detached house if they need a big detached house? It's none of your business and the size of someone's house is not an indication of how they are doing financially.

StormyLlewelyn · 29/10/2015 20:03

Regardless of what you think, your comment was uncalled for and was incredibly low.

pointythings · 29/10/2015 20:05

Dark may I suggest you look up the dictionary definition of 'compassion'? Because you could certainly do with developing some. Bloody hell, some people!

Flowers dawndonna

Darkbehindthecurtain · 29/10/2015 20:06

Of course it's my business as I am apparently paying for it!

Dawndonnaagain · 29/10/2015 20:10

and yet, if I hadn't bought my house when we were working you'd have complained about me taking a local authority build from someone who needed it. You didn't pay for my house, I did. You are not paying for any of the benefits I get either, I paid for those too, as did dh when he was working.
I'd suggest you take a step back dark, you're embarrassing yourself.

Dawndonnaagain · 29/10/2015 20:11

Thank you, all of you, for your support, it's reassuring and kind and very, very much appreciated. Flowers Wine Cake

needastrongone · 29/10/2015 20:11

So am I, and probably a fair bit more than you, and I am glad to, for the vast majority of cases.

There but for the grace of god etc.

Darkbehindthecurtain · 29/10/2015 20:12

I have nothing to feel embarrassed about. But I will take a step back, that is good advice.

pointythings · 29/10/2015 20:18

I'm another of those who doesn't claim tax credits, has never claimed benefits and is very glad that some of what I pay in goes to people like dawn. Hmm

I've self reported. Apologies. But I agree with the TC cuts. I'm quite upset they've been postponed. That's not a personal attack; I am however sick of paying tax every time I turn around for those claiming to lead a lifestyle I can only dream of - on that note I'll leave you all to it.

StormyLlewelyn · 29/10/2015 20:21

Ihave nothing to feel embarrassed about.

Aside from a cheap dig at at someone who didn't deserve it....

Should people on benefits move into hovels then? Some sort of ghetto perhaps?

Darkbehindthecurtain · 29/10/2015 20:22

No. But I do think possessions including property should count as savings.

StormyLlewelyn · 29/10/2015 20:23

Tax Credits fill the gap between wages and the cost of living, one has not kept up with the other and unless the government want to see many of their citizens starving in the streets then TCs are needed - at least until there is something else in place to plug that gap.

Badders123 · 29/10/2015 20:24

Those in.power and the right wing elite.Must rub their hands.with glee.when they see stuff.like this being spouted about disabled and vulnerable people.
Divide.and conquer.indeed!
Dawn...what upsets me about your situation.is that some.people.do.not seem to understand that if you did not become your families carer, and they were all.put into residential care.or.nursing care it would cost a damn sight more than.the pittance of £62 week you receive!
Can't tell you how depressed some.views.on this thread have made.Me:(

StormyLlewelyn · 29/10/2015 20:24

But I do think possessions including property should count as savings.

No, they shouldn't. You have no idea where someone's possessions have come from or how they've been paid for. Possessions are not the same thing as savings and should not be included in benefit calculations.

Badders123 · 29/10/2015 20:27

Dawn...I have never claimed benefits. I am lucky I have never.needed.to (yes....that's down to luck, not being a superior being!)
our household pays higher rate and I can assure you both dh and I are happy that our taxes go towards helping those in need x
There but for the grace of God....

MissMarpleCat · 29/10/2015 20:30

The fact is carers like Dawn are actually saving tax payers lots of money. If she didn't care for her disabled dc's and husband then the responsibility would fall to their LA. Believe me that would cost a lot more money, I know I work with young people with disabilities.
Flowers for you Dawn you're doing a very difficult and selfless job.

When you see threads like this on here: Why are Public schools so confusing?!! (1 Post)

It is revealing has to why certain people on here (just like in life generally ) cannot comprehend how a reduction of £25-35 per week for some people will cause genuine hardship !.

This post goes on about choosing public schools in the same way , most people go on about being confused about Aldi or Sainsburys .

You may wonder what the connection is between the two threads but it tells you everything about why Osborne and Cameron think that £25-35 per week is just giving up a coffee and a cake each day at Starbucks.

Sadly this is how some 'Well Off' people think , hence the appalling attack on Dawndonna.

Finally There are probably a majority of Conservative voting people like me, that are disgusted by these proposed cuts to tax credits . Please don't think we are all like IDS in the same way i don't think all Labour voters believe Corybyn or Mcdonnell stupidity.
