Why?

Just picked up one of the ones I regularly buy and have noticed it now has MEN written upon it.

This has annoyed my two fold

  1. if it's Radox MEN is it only to be used by Men in a bath rather than a man. It will be cramped.

  2. it's bubble bath ..... It doesn't need gender assigning. It never has before. Radox are being twats.

Anyway, I'm in it now. My ovaries haven't fallen out and I've not been arrested by the bath police but

AIBU not to buy Radox again until they stop being silly?

Check for a twirly moustache when you get out.

What does it smell like? Is it all black pepper and pine type stuff?

MajesticSeaFlapFlap · 22/10/2015 18:43

My manly man is 37 and still uses matey bubbly bath

KingJoffreyLikesJaffaCakes · 22/10/2015 18:44

DS has 'man bubbles'.

We call them 'mubbles'.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 22/10/2015 18:46

THere has always been a men radox specification. I have always bought it for my boys to encourage them to bathe/shower., when they were younger anyway. I'd rather you didn't make everyone boycott it tbh.

OddSocksHighHeels · 22/10/2015 18:47

Well a man needs a manly bubble bath doesn't he? I'm not sure what makes it manly but that's beside the point.

YANBU obviously, it's stupid marketing.

I worked in a supermarket. A man came in asking for hair dye for men. I showed them to him but we only had a dark brown in stock, not the black that he wanted. I asked of he'd like to look at the women's dye as it would still work (phrased non-sarcastically, I can't remember the exact words I used). He went MAD at me, how dare I suggest that, he's a man, he can't use hair dye for women! The horror! He called over a manager to put in a complaint about me for it. I think he would like this bubble bath.

BertieBotts · 22/10/2015 18:48

Oh no, I think DH uses the normal women's stuff. Do you think it might make his willy shrivel up? :( Now I'm worried.

HoneyDragon · 22/10/2015 18:49

The shower gels did, the bubble bath didn't.

And it's bleeding blackberry and ginger. It's autumnal .... That's surely not exclusive to the Y chromosome.

I noticed this recently when I was confused in the supermarket why I couldn't see my usual flavours of Original Source shower gel but instead found exciting "new" ones like Blue Ginger (eh?) before realising I was unwittingly in the Men's Shower section. I'd naively assumed we shared showering. Had a rant about it mid-aisle to dp.

So, yeah, OP. It's like Chocolate for Men and Crisps for Men. Weird.

BrandNewAndImproved · 22/10/2015 18:49

I don't think that's unusual. Most bubble baths are all girly with jasmine and shit. The adverts for these are aimed at women relaxing in the bath.

Nothing wrong with a manly scent otherwise all perfume would be unisex ffs.

Yorkie bars on the other hand urgh. I liked them before their shit advertising.

HoneyDragon · 22/10/2015 18:50

It's ok. The other Radox is gender free so his willy will be fine

HoneyDragon · 22/10/2015 18:51

My bath tub is gender fluid, so I think bubble should be.

OP posts:
HoneyDragon · 22/10/2015 18:52

My bath tub doesn't wear aftershave it likes to wear Cif.

OP posts:
BubsandMoo · 22/10/2015 18:53

But why is jasmine 'girly'? What makes a scent 'manly'?

Champagneformyrealfriends · 22/10/2015 18:55

This really irritated me too - that ones my favourite! Confused

Passmethecrisps · 22/10/2015 18:58

Just checked our radox. Black pepper and ginseng bath foam= safe for penises and vulvas.

Blissful escape shower gel = smells like old ladies but still appears to be safe for all types of genitals

OvO · 22/10/2015 18:59

I bought it recently and used it. I now have a willy. Be careful people, it was too manly for me.

We thoroughly mocked it in the OvO household.

noeffingidea · 22/10/2015 19:00

Only on Mumsnet.
Why is there seperate men and women's perfumes? Does anyone actually care?

HoneyDragon · 22/10/2015 19:03

Yes I care, noeffingidea hence the thread. Very much actually.

It's had very distressing consequences for me this sudden change in my bubble bath status.

Men and women have different perfumes though - I wouldn't want to spray myself DH's Davidoff or whatever, even though it wouldn't do any harm. Don't think this any different really.

HoneyDragon · 22/10/2015 19:56

But it is different

If Chanel,No.5 went and put FOR MEN on it, then it would be the same.

OP posts:
Passmethecrisps · 22/10/2015 19:56

This adds nothing but I totally read the above as "DH's hasslehoff "

I was wondering who the fuck wants to smell of David hasslehof

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2015 20:00

I bought some Radox Man shower gel the other day. It's hanging in the shower cubicle all threatening like.

Sparklingbrook · 22/10/2015 20:03

TBF my gynaecologist said 'Sparkling never add anything to the bath but yourself'.

He wasn't a fan of bubbles.

KurriKurri · 22/10/2015 20:04

Once when I stayed at a friends house, she told me to use any perfume/bath products/shower gel etc I found in the bathroom cupboards. I found some very nice perfume which I used liberally and everyone complemented me on it - she asked what I was using and when I showed her she said 'oh that's some stuff my XH left behind when he moved out' But I carried on using it because it was nice, I didn't grow a beard or a unwanted dangly stuff.

Scent is scent - radox are deranged (I have some bath salts type stuff from them supposedly for aching limbs etc - smells like pine and doesn't dissolve properly so your bum gets a good scraping in the bath - I only mention this so folk can avoid it). Their jasmine/peony/pomegranite type shit is Ok though.

WhenSheWasBadSheWasHorrid · 22/10/2015 20:05

Blackberry and ginger bubble bath sounds lovely. I want a bubble bath now. Smile

There's been stuff fragranced for men and women around for ages. It's never really bothered me, it's very easy to get annoyed with marketing
