Really wanted a superdry jacket I'm a size 16, tried on the xl and it wouldn't even do up! Tried on the men's and it did up but was very tight!Shock feel huge now! Been in a mood all day because of it haha

It isn't just you, dh bought me one for the school runs because I'm constantly cold, and got a medium (I'm was a size 12) and it didn't fit, so swapped it for a large, and that only just zipped up! I haven't tried it on yet this year and I'm not expecting it to fit.

ProcrastinatorGeneral · 14/10/2015 19:21

I only ever see children wearing them, so maybe they're sized more for the preteen/teen market?

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 14/10/2015 19:23

Super dry sizing is tiny. I'm a 8-10 in most shops but always need a M or L in Superdry.

Caprinihahahaha · 14/10/2015 19:26

Super dry is a kids brand, like hollister. They are small because they are meant to fit 12 year - 18 year olds. My 13 year old DD has a hollister jacket.

TheWernethWife · 14/10/2015 19:27

Bought my son some polo shirts from Superdry for Christmas, bought Large and had to take them back and swop for Extra Large - they are very slim fitting. I'm a size 16 as well and couldn't find anything to fit in the ladies section.

Osolea · 14/10/2015 19:28

It's not a children's brand, it's just a brand that has chosen only to be seen on slim people.

TurnOffTheTv · 14/10/2015 19:28

It is pretty small, but it's not vanity sizing which is a pain in the arse.

TurnOffTheTv · 14/10/2015 19:29

And it's not a kids brand either.

5madthings · 14/10/2015 19:31

Basically if you have boobs superdry doesn't fit well. I have a superdry skirt in a small which fits fine, am a 10 bottom half. But I have 30gg boobs so I have a large or xlarge jacket that just fits. It's lovely though. But I ignore the size!

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 14/10/2015 19:33

I'm an 8 and I wear a XS or a S depending on the style. I think it's true to size but I think they prefer to be seen on slim people and have therefore undersized anything above a 14 so it doesn't quite fit, and they don't buy. There only ever seems to be one token larger size in a store too.

Chilledmonkeybrains · 14/10/2015 19:35

It's deliberate, they don't want larger people wearing their stuff. And they seem to think 12 or above is large.

Caprinihahahaha · 14/10/2015 19:36

Pffftt

Their target market is the hoard of teenagers/pre-teens that buy their stuff.
Technically the are not a children's brand but they are designed for young adults/teenagers.
Go in the stores, especially hollister, and most of the people buying are teenager. It may change soon as adults buying super dry is fast making it really naff (according to the 13 year olds here)

QueenMolotov · 14/10/2015 19:37

I'm a UK 10 in my early 30s and have a Superdry parka style coat. I'm usually a size M in there but was able to buy this in a size S as it fits well and should look fitted, IYSWIM. The medium was a bit baggy; heaven help me if I gain weight because I will actually split the seams ...

I wouldn't say Superdry isn't a kids brand. It's fit comes up small but that could be because a) Asian sizes are generally smaller than their European/US counterparts (assuming Superdry is based on Asian sizing) or b) like a pp said, Superdry is branded towards slim people (so very wrong on many levels, but there you go).

Seeyounearertime · 14/10/2015 19:39

If you want decent bad weather stuff, you can't go wrong with Trespass stuff. Well made, decent price, lasts well etc.
(No o don't work there. Lol)

Candypops14 · 14/10/2015 19:40

Never thought it was a children's brand have seen loads of adults wearing the clothes especially men.

DieDeutschLehrerin · 14/10/2015 19:42

DH and I both have them and they are small, they're just v.useful. If you're after a similar alternative a friend has a very beautiful Jack Wolfskin jacket and they stock a much better range of sizes.

TurnOffTheTv · 14/10/2015 19:42

I only see middle aged men wearing it!

The80sweregreat · 14/10/2015 19:43

Yes

QueenMolotov · 14/10/2015 19:43

In fact, I first wore Superdry in the early 2000s when I was a teenager. Superdry got really popular in the mid 2000s and I stopped wearing it, then I've rediscovered it recently. It's funny how brands and peoples perceptions of brands change.

I had a Trespass parka a couple of years ago and have never felt more dowdy in my whole life! I would agree that it fitted perfectly; kept the rain off me, etc, and did all the things that my Superdry coat does, but I felt so beige in it. It was a proper 'mum coat' and whilst I need a practical coat, I don't want to look 'mumsy'.

BolshierAryaStark · 14/10/2015 19:45

Jack Wolfskin is good.
Superdry have nice stuff but the sizing is ridiculous.

Floralnomad · 14/10/2015 19:46

My DS is stick thin and he needs a large in Superdry jackets ,it's ridiculous .

Cocolepew · 14/10/2015 19:47

A friend in work took her daughters and got stuck in it. The zip got stuck so she tried pulling it over her head only to get completely stuck. We had to cut her out off it Grin

Siennasun · 14/10/2015 19:47

Superdry isn't Asian. It's a UK company. I don't think the sizes are especially small, but not massive like some other shops.

londonrach · 14/10/2015 19:58

Lol..i seriously thought it was a freebee to advertise a new brand of nappies when i saw the first jacket on the street. I dont think the young man i asked was so impressed.

StephenKatz · 14/10/2015 20:03

I think it's just the randomness of sizing - I'm usually an 8, sometimes a 10 on top and my Superdry windbreaker coat is a medium.
