Merkel is responsible, Germany should take them

Merkel has idiotically encouraged millions of illegals to risk their lives getting to Europe, and then promptly shut the door on them. Now sensible countries like Hungary are having to bear the brunt. It's the most idiotic policy I've seen for quite some while.

Germany should pay. Germany should house them. And the EU rules on free movement of people should be torn up. I hope the AfD gets a massive boost at the expense of the CDU/CSU.

I think even someone as wet as Cameron could get Hungary, Croatia, et al to agree on making Germany bear the brunt after the problems caused by hordes of illegals at their borders over the last few days. I am sure the Greeks would be more than happy to oblige too.

Dawn noted, thank you.

Western Europe needs a steady supply of immigrants to keep working and paying taxes.
Without it we are facing decades of stagnation and recession - as Japan has done.

Not sure what Australia has to do with it : their whole economy is run by immigrants.

LET THEM IN AND LET THEM WORK

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 17/09/2015 21:28

Yes let them in and get them working but process them properly first so they can be given the right paperwork to do so

lacktoastandtolerance · 17/09/2015 21:34

Congratulations on having the good fortune to be born in a place where you don't fear for your life, your family or your future. A fine achievement, of which you should be proud, and justifiably unwilling to share your positive circumstance with those worse-off.

Dear me, there are some unsympathetic cunts in this world. I'd happily swap 100 of 'them' for every one of you.

Lauren15 · 17/09/2015 21:38

Well said lacktoastandtolerance.

TyrannosaurusBex · 17/09/2015 21:38

What lack said.

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 17/09/2015 21:39

Its great to be fluffy and caring and want to fix the world but you need practical solutions to do things so they work for all parties. There is no point just opening the borders up to everyone if we don't work out how to house and feed and afford the people we accept.

Most of Europe is currently in economic shit and struggling to support itself. Yes we are better off than the migrants however read the threads about the impact cuts to the NHS is having on people, cuts to benefits...we aren't the only country in this situation. This can't be tackled on emotion alone.

ohmyeyebettymartin · 17/09/2015 21:43

"If they do not have visas, then they are illegal immigrants."

You realise that this is factually incorrect, right? You do not get a visa before entering a country if you are a refugee. You enter the country, then apply for asylum. There is no requirement to get a "refugee visa" stamped in your passport before you pack your suitcase, arrange a housesitter and set off from your war-torn country for somewhere safer HmmHmmHmm

longfingernails · 17/09/2015 21:43

The fact is that Merkel encouraged the migrants, and then when too many listened to her and came, Germany has suspended Schengen, and dumped the problem on Hungary, Croatia, Serbia and Greece. It's a problem of Germany's making, and German taxpayers should pick up the tab.

But of course, so much easy for stupid leftwingers to virtue signal, and smear any critic of holier-than-thou 'let them all in' policies as racist.

Yes Lunchpack. People want utopia, it's not possible, no matter how many MNers think it should be so.

CatMilkMan · 17/09/2015 21:43

So many people acted on emotions after seeing the horrific picture and seemed to have lost any logical reasoning.
Unfortunately many people are still packing people in to boxes and labelling them racist if they refer to anyone as an immigrant, it's very pathetic.

ohmyeyebettymartin · 17/09/2015 21:44

Counting down until someone says "Hmmm, bit suspicious that they are all men" or something similar.

lacktoastandtolerance · 17/09/2015 21:47

The problem is, you didn't think about we could do. You dehumanised traumatised individuals with unsympathetic tabloid drivel. There's a big difference between a practical discussion of possible solutions and ignorant hyperbole.

ohmyeyebettymartin · 17/09/2015 21:48

"There is no point just opening the borders up to everyone if we don't work out how to house and feed and afford the people we accept."

This is absolutely correct. However, there's also no point just closing borders willy-nilly (Hungary, I'm looking at you) and thinking that large numbers of desperate people will simply shrug and say, oh, ok then. We need a plan on how the EU as a whole can work together to help these people in whatever way we can. Telling them "just go away" simply will not work, even if you think that it's perfectly justified (or even essential).

LunchpackOfNotreDame · 17/09/2015 21:48

Stop focusing on the language being used. It's not relevant. You're blatantly ignoring questions and suggestions about solutions

lacktoastandtolerance · 17/09/2015 21:48

didn't think about what we could do

longfingernails · 17/09/2015 21:49

I have a practical solution. Turn back the boats. It works:

ohmyeyebettymartin · 17/09/2015 21:49

That's right lackstoast. We need to think about what we can do. I have no idea what the possible solutions might be but 'Fortress Europe' is simply not a viable option. Burying our heads in the sand won't help the refugees, and it won't work for us either.

If you believe Abbott's bullshit longfingernails, you have got bigger problems than we can help you with Hmm

shins · 17/09/2015 21:52

Talkinpeace, how come there are 20 million unemployed in Europe if we're in such desperate need of migrant workers?

Racist...EDL....Daily Mail...it's like bingo here. I'm expecting Hitler to be evoked any minute now. The impossibility of reasonable discussion here is like a microcosm of the disastrous way the EU is imploding right now.

Ta1kinPeace · 17/09/2015 21:52

Abbott has just been deposed.
Australia is not comparable to Europe
and all of Australia's government are hypocritical immigrants.

Western Europe needs young, fit, motivated, educated workers.
LET THEM IN AND LET THEM WORK
the sooner they are paying taxes, the sooner our pension crisis eases.

longfingernails · 17/09/2015 21:52

The number of boat arrivals has plummetted since the Aussies started turning back the boats.

It's true though

It's demonstrably untrue.

What's with the name-calling and swearing though? Confused
