To think sleeping naked is a bit...ick?

Just started seeing someone (been friends for a long time) and last night we had our first sleep over. DTD, all good and lovely but afterwards I was dying to put my pants back on.

We ended up having a laugh about it and he admitted he's a naked sleeper, which I have never been. It's not a huge issue but it got me thinking...

Does anyone else out there find sleeping naked icky? Or am I the strange one?

Yes, the worst thing about our camping trip this year, despite the non stop rain was having to sleep in clothes as it was so cold.

It was really horrible and uncomfortable.

I just like my shoulders to be covered, so I either wear a nightshirt or pyjamas. Don't like socks, so only wear them if it's very cold. Sleeping naked isn't "ick", I just feel cold and vulnerable

Naked all year round here. As EponasWildDaughter and LidlSoph said up-thread, it's what co-sleeping adults do, and it encourages the emotional bond. Nothing nicer than drifting off to sleep against in a warm, welcoming skin-to-skin contact situation, and waking up the same way. And as for "ickyness" - showers before bedtime seem to do the trick.

But given the apparent preponderance of nude sleepers here, when did we all start? As I posted on another thread recently, my own introduction to sleeping au naturelle came from my parents during the summer of '76 and DH had been a similar heatwave stripper a few years earlier. With two nude-sleeping parents to contend with, DCs never really showed any interest in PJs!

I understand the feeling vulnerable thing though, especially as I used to sleep walk!

I get so cold at night which is odd because I'm warm blooded during the day.

i sleep in the skuddy buff. always. regardless of temperature.

I can't fall asleep if I am nude. I know what you mean by icky. For me it stems from abuse.

WTF?! My 4 year old LOVES sleeping nude. She's not been abused!

(hubby and I slept nude most of the time before she came along, but don't tend to nowadays - her room is across a landing with a window that can't have a curtain/blind)

I think that poster was referring to her own experiences.

I often go to sleep in my PJs and wake up naked. ( OH has usually something to do with this).

I think the poster was saying she can't sleep nude do you her experiences of abuse, not that everyone who sleeps naked (the vast majority of people on this thread) have or are being abused.

I'm a pyjama wearer unless it's very hot in the middle of summer. I get cold shoulders and can't sleep if I'm not warm enough. Ditto draughts.

DH sleeps naked because he doesn't feel the cold at all.

I am sure it is just preference.
"What co-sleeping adults do" surely depends on the adults?

DH finds he's uncomfortable without his boxers on. Too much "flopping about" he says.

I also feel cold and vulnerable without my knickers on. Never had thrush a day in my life.

I love snuggly pyjamas!
DH and I have no problems with our strong emotional bond, either.

Dh prefers naked, I like my knickers on (and bra too if I'm breastfeeding, but that's just because of leakage! )

Yes Gruntfuttock Last night's apparel was a Fatface maxi-dress. Tonight's is also going to be a FF maxi-dress, but sometimes it's legging and tunic or a blouse and a skirt.

Sometimes I sleep in a hoodie and thick joggers I get freezing at night.

I can't "air" my fanjo because for around half of the month it invents various reasons to dribble and wakes me up. It should really learn some manners in that department.

This sounds like me and my now husband 7 years ago!

Until then, I always liked to sleep "contained" in bra and knick knacks.

I slept naked as knew he'd like me too (not forced or brow beaten) and now would feel a bit "constrained" if went back to the underwear in bed approach, iyswim.

Give it a try, if you think he's worth it!

I used to fall asleep in pyjamas and wake up naked...then I figured out I was getting all tangled up in them so decided to ditch them altogether.
The only time I get in bed with pyjamas on is if I'm ill, otherwise I keep jammies strictly for wearing after shower but before bed.

I quite like naked, but get a bit cold without a top, so usually a top and no bottoms

That said OH is a bloody furnace body temp wise (solo I am always cold), so the fact that he basically heats up enough for the two of us factors in as well!

I'm a naked sleeper, as is DD. Unless it's absolutely freezing of course!

I've never been a naked sleeper. I have done it occasionally usually when pissed pre children but at the very least I need a top and underwear on. Tonight I'm in pj shorts and a vest.... boobs will be flopped out as I'm cosleeping and this gives DC easy access. I still can't bare to be topless.
