To think sleeping naked is a bit...ick?

Just started seeing someone (been friends for a long time) and last night we had our first sleep over. DTD, all good and lovely but afterwards I was dying to put my pants back on.

We ended up having a laugh about it and he admitted he's a naked sleeper, which I have never been. It's not a huge issue but it got me thinking...

Does anyone else out there find sleeping naked icky? Or am I the strange one?

I sometime wear one of dh's old t-shirts if dd is in the bed as she pulls down the blankets and I hate having cold shoulders. Dh always sleeps naked and dd(3 yrs) likes to range between pjs, a T-shirt or naked. Tonight she announced she wanted to be naked, I no longer even try and argue about it.

ToesAndFingersCrossed · 06/09/2015 21:40

I prefer to sleep naked but now I'm pregnant and my boobs have doubled in size I need something to hold them in place or it's like newtons cradle when I roll over. Hate wearing pants to sleep, it's not about my vagina breathing (?!) but more the tightness of knickers around the top of your legs that makes me uncomfortable! When it gets really cold I have flannel pjs but never wear pants under them.

When we first met DH wore his boxers to sleep. One day I asked him why and he said "I have no idea!" and stopped.

AyeAmarok · 06/09/2015 21:41

OH sleeps naked or in boxers. I don't like completely naked, I prefer to have plants on. I just don't sleep as well with nothing covering my fanjo.

AyeAmarok · 06/09/2015 21:42

Plants, Grin

Hello, I'm Eve. That apple was delicious and check out that snake in bed with me...

PANTS.

Judydreamsofhorses · 06/09/2015 21:45

We sleep naked, other than pants on during my period. If it's very cold I'll wear one of DP's t-shirts.

BestZebbie · 06/09/2015 21:45

If you share a bed, isn't part of the ick factor that you aren't just sleeping in your own elderly sweat etc but also your partner's? Unless you always shower just before bed and change your sheets every day, isn't that like sleeping in multiple-day-old used underwear - half of which belongs to someone else? I appreciate that there is an argument that you'd touch your partner naked so why not their bedsheets, but I am not sure many people would be keen on wearing their partner's two-day-old underpants for eight hours at a time even if they don't mind the person 'at source'.

Well I kind of understand, so yanbu from me! I love pjs for one thing and unless I started showering every night before bed and cleaning the sheets every day, I wouldn't be able to sleep without them. My brain just pictures any public toilets you've sat on in the day, all the random grime and sweat, just all over the bed - ugh. In fact, might need to go and shower now I've over-thought about it!

multivac · 06/09/2015 21:55

The people who are all 'icky' about sleeping in 'each other's old sweat' and so on... you do realise, don't you, that your bed is full of bacteria? Millions of 'em - and they're getting into your jim-jams, too (which are not, I presume, water-resistant, in any case).

I'm assuming, also, that you don't vacuum-wrap your head before you put it on your pillow?

I love sleeping naked. Nothing better than waking up on a cold morning with a cocoon of body-warmed air between your own skin and the duvet. Or falling asleep on a hot night with just a sheet over you.

ijustwannadance · 06/09/2015 21:56

I couldn't sleep knickerless. If cold a big old t shirt. Hate pj bottoms, they move/twist up my legs during to night. Like my legs free. In winter have to wear socks when feet are freezing.

MotherOfFlagons · 06/09/2015 21:58

I've slept naked for years and so has DH. I get really hot at night and am a restless sleeper so PJs or nightie would end up twisted around me and be massively uncomfortable and annoying.

reallywittyname · 06/09/2015 22:01

I have to wear a vest top and pj bottoms in bed, else my vast boobs would do the Miranda boob clap every time I turned over, and my legs would get all stuck together. Plus, you know, fire, burglars, the cold, children waking up. And breastfeeding which means milky puddles on the bedclothes. Yum.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 06/09/2015 22:02

I always sleep makes too unless it's freezing cold. DP always wears his underpants and thinks I'm a freak lol.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 06/09/2015 22:03

Tsk *naked

LidlSoph · 06/09/2015 22:04

Myself and my DP both sleep naked, come any season. I find that it helps encourage a closer emotional bond. Quite annoyingly sometimes though, DP is one of those who likes to hug all night and entwine himself with my legs and arms Blush

Very strange behaviour on his part lol.

I can see why you'd find it icky though. I do change our sheets twice a week, once a week if I'm being lazy, but we're both not very sweaty/dischargy people.

My ex was a rather smelly chap, I wouldn't have dreamt to sleep naked against him and his naked bod.

Whoknewitcouldbeso · 06/09/2015 22:04

Just to add I can't stand sleeping in knickers as you get a vuvla wedgie and it's bloody uncomfortable.

Micah · 06/09/2015 22:04

See I think it's more icky to sleep in pants- keeps everything warm and moist and an ideal environment for bacterial and fungal growth.

I also like sleeping naked and getting rid of all the seam and clothes imprints from elastic etc.

flanjabelle · 06/09/2015 22:05

I love pjs, and find naked sleeping really uncomfortable. I feel chilly and exposed and just can't relax. in the summer I wear at least a vest top and knickers, in the winter its pj top and bottoms with knickers And socks. Never wear a bra to bed though, but I don't have much that needs support.

janethegirl2 · 06/09/2015 22:06

I sleep naked too.

Ds was once burgled and woke up to see said burglar and chased him down the street - wearing only a pair of socksGrin

LidlSoph · 06/09/2015 22:06

Interesting to add that the theory is, sleeping naked boosts body confidence!

ThoseAwfulCurtains · 06/09/2015 22:14

Sleeping in pants means a lot of you have fanjos that only get an airing at shower time unless you are wearing a skirt and going commando during the daytime.

Is it wrong to be feeling sorry for unknown women's unaired fanjo's? Or just plain weird?

Confused
Scotslasslivinginfrance · 06/09/2015 22:21

Naked all the way here, except in the much colder months when I might wear pj's If DC get into bed in the morning we will be naked. DD during her early years used to strip off before joining us for a morning cuddle as she wanted to be naked like us!

WorldsBiggestGrotbag · 06/09/2015 22:24

Those surely it doesn't get much air under a duvet anyway?

LuluJakey1 · 06/09/2015 22:27

DH sleeps naked, radiates heat and is like a rucksack.. I like something on if it's chilly but something easily removed and that leaves me easily accessible.I like feeling DH's skin against mine. He likes full body contact Grin
But I hate being cold. He sleeps with a woman who wears fluffy socks in bed 8 months of the year, even if she's wearing nothing else.

Cluesue · 06/09/2015 22:31

I always sleep naked,ex used to wear boxers to bed for the first few years we were together, eventually went in the buff too.
I feel very restricted if I have even a nightie on
