I'm 36 and would like to ttc around Christmas.

I've 2 dc but would love a third.

I don't think 36 is old now for a baby but then I scare myself by googling too much!

Lady next to me on post natal ward was 48 it was her first, didn't ask whose eggs!

OutPinked · 17/01/2019 19:37

Mum’s friend had twins at 46. She thought she was going through the menopause, her children had long grown up and she had the coil. Turned out the coil had become dislodged without her realising and she ended up with very unexpected twins. 25 year age gap between her eldest and the twins Shock.

  1. Natural surprise.
JasperKarat · 17/01/2019 19:40

Oh and FILs mother was 49 when he was conceived, 50 at birth, she thought he was the menopause! His siblings are all considerably older than he is as she had them in her twenties. It means DH has cousins who are older than some of my aunts/uncles which is confusing at times

Montsti · 17/01/2019 19:40

I know someone of 47 who had an unplanned 5th child...

I was 41 when I had baby no.4...

3timeslucky · 17/01/2019 19:52

52 with donor eggs.

42 without assistance (I know quite a lot of 41/42s)

Lilyhatesjaz · 17/01/2019 19:54

Tracing my family tree I found my great great grandmother had her last baby at 50. He was her 10th

Thisonewilldo · 17/01/2019 19:55

47 and it was twins. My mum had me at 40, her mum had her at 44.

Cherries101 · 17/01/2019 19:55
  1. My grandmother
Aquamarine1029 · 17/01/2019 19:55

My great grandmother had her last child at 50. She thought it was menopause, haha. At the same time, my grandmother was pregnant with my mum. My mum and her uncle were born less than 2 months apart.

cptartapp · 17/01/2019 19:57

My 47 year old friend has just had twins and given birth naturally. As she did with their brothers - her first set of twins who are now 16!

Cheeringmeup · 17/01/2019 20:03

I was 42 with my second - healthy 9lb 4oz!
My midwife at antenatal appointments told me she was pregnant (early days, not showing) with her first - she was 48. Met her about 18 months later at a playgroup - she had a beautiful healthy daughter Smile

CecilyP · 17/01/2019 20:17

My great grandmother had her 7th & 8th aged 43 and 45 respectively, her DH 3 years older. Definitely the oldest mum in my family tree going back centuries though. Statistically, before the introduction of IVF using donor eggs, about 45 women over 50 has babies in the UK each year.

I had a friend whose mum had 4 children, all singletons, between the ages of 38 and 44. At 36, I don’t think you have much to worry about!

JustDanceAddict · 17/01/2019 20:21

My mum was 42.
I know a fair few mums who had babies early 40S.
I know of one who must have been at least 45. She must be in her 60s now but has never revealed her exact age.

Xenadog · 17/01/2019 20:23

My mum was 44 when she had me and I was 40 when I had my dd.

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 17/01/2019 20:25

I’m the oldest mum of a newborn I know personally. I was 44 when I had DC3.

AliTheMinx · 17/01/2019 20:26

My mother in law remarried and had DH's half brother when she was 47. He was conceived naturally. There's a 24 year age gap between DH and his half brother....

tor8181 · 17/01/2019 20:26

a woman in my old village had a natural pregnancy with twins at 54,this was her 6th pregnancy so 7 kids in total

all her kids were 30s and 20s at the time

SchnitzelVonCrum · 17/01/2019 20:31

3WildOnes · 17/01/2019 20:33

Two at 46, both with donor eggs. Quite a few naturally in their early 40s.

Korvalscat · 17/01/2019 20:33

From documents, my Great Great Grandmother had her first at 18 and her 14th at 48. There was a gap of 5 years between nos 13 and 14. She died aged 54.

SchnitzelVonCrum · 17/01/2019 20:35

The ladies I mentioned were none IVF too just to clarify.

Jezzifishie · 17/01/2019 20:39

A friend of mine had her youngest in her mid forties. She thought she was menopausal - she wasn't Wink

Thurmanmurman · 17/01/2019 20:42

My DM was 38 when she had my DB, which was considered pretty old 35 years ago but these days it’s fairly standard. I have 2 friends who were 39 when they had babies.

Catmum26 · 17/01/2019 20:44

she was 40. took her 5 years to conceive. she then started ttc again at 42 but nothing happened so she just has the one baby
