I'm 36 and would like to ttc around Christmas.

I've 2 dc but would love a third.

I don't think 36 is old now for a baby but then I scare myself by googling too much!

OP posts:
PennyPants · 23/08/2015 09:00

46 yrs old

ShatnersBassoon · 23/08/2015 09:01

40 I think. A happy surprise for her.

MummaV · 23/08/2015 09:06

45, with Twins.

TheNewStatesman · 23/08/2015 09:36

Mother of a friend was 50. It was definitely not "secret IVF"--she decided to terminate, after a lot of consideration.

Wishful80smontage · 23/08/2015 09:39

A couple of ladies from baby group were about 42 one with her first and other with their second. I think starting motherhood in 49's isn't unusual these days. Most of my baby friends are mid-30 and upwards.

elQuintoConyo · 23/08/2015 09:45

Close friend turned 50 two months after the birth of her ivf twin boys. She has bags of energy and is a great mum. She looks much younger, too!

I was 36.5 when my son was born, seems kind of average.

Forkrightorf · 23/08/2015 09:53

DM was 42 when she had my youngest Dsis - a few days after I'd had my eldest DS!

Bettercallsaul1 · 23/08/2015 09:54

Mid-thirties is completely standard for getting pregnant these days, OP! The average age for starting a family has got older so 35, 36 is very common for a planned second or third baby.

Hygellig · 23/08/2015 10:03

My friend's mum was nearly 46 when she was born (no IVF involved). I have several Facebook friends who've had their first baby in their mid to late 30s and know one mum locally who had her first at 42.

PeanutsOnTheFloor · 23/08/2015 10:26

junosmum 'My mum was 37 with my little brother, my friends mum was 40 with him'. Grin. How many times was your little brother born?

fabuLou · 23/08/2015 10:29

42

fabuLou · 23/08/2015 10:30

Oh actually orked with a lady who was 46 with nb

MyNewBearTotoro · 23/08/2015 10:32

I know two mums who were both 44 when they had their youngest.

One conceived naturally (wasn't trying and her other DC were all teens so quite a shock!). The other Mum had IVF which led to twins.

I'm about to have DC2 and will turn 41 shortly before she's born. Of people in my personal circles I am the oldest mum I know - not by choice, it took five years to conceive DC1 and then another three and a half to conceive this one.

I had the health visitor visitor recently who said mums in this area tend to be very very young teenagers, or much older mothers. I've not come across many of the older ones!

TheWatchersCouncil · 23/08/2015 10:40
  1. Natural conception. First child. She was somewhat 'surprised'.
puddymuddles · 23/08/2015 10:42

I'm 39 next month and have just had a third baby. Had v easy 3 hour labour and homebirth and he is doing just fine!

Someone I know had a surprise third baby at 45 - no fertility treatment. The little boy is fine - I don't know her well enough to ask about her labour.

Oliversmumsarmy · 23/08/2015 10:53

I had ds at 42. We decided to try and fell within 1 week of trying. Knew within 10 days of conception as suddenly went off coffee.

HazelBite · 23/08/2015 11:14

SIL at 46 first and only child but with fertility treatment. DIL at 46, sadly they elected to terminate the pregnancy as the baby had multiple problems and was unlikely to survive birth.

Igneococcus · 23/08/2015 11:20

46, after years of believing she couldn't have children, she had another one at 49.

RonaldMcDonald · 23/08/2015 11:22

My aunt had a perfectly healthy baby and pregnancy at 48...thought it was her menopause

My cousin had her first at 42

36 isn't too old imo, I had my first at 34

Mysillydog · 23/08/2015 11:55

My friend was 42 when she had her dd. I was 27, and I still consider her one of my best friends 15 years on.

cashewnutty · 23/08/2015 12:21

My DH's aunt had her first her early 40's and went on to have three in total. All three are now young adults and she is her 70's, in good health and very active.

ModreB · 23/08/2015 14:01

My DGM was 49yo when she had my Uncle. This was in the 50's so natural conception. She had my other Uncle at 45yo. I am 48yo and still insist on ALL contraception.

EponasWildDaughter · 23/08/2015 14:39

Me - 44.

4th DC. 16 year age gap. Totally natural conception but not a surprise :)
