I'm 36 and would like to ttc around Christmas.

I've 2 dc but would love a third.

I don't think 36 is old now for a baby but then I scare myself by googling too much!

OP posts:

greenfolder · 22/08/2015 23:21

45 totally natural. Have known several fall at this age.

BertrandRussell · 22/08/2015 23:21

Me. I was 44.

Happy to answer questions if anyone has any!

40 for definite but I'm guessing a couple of ds's friends mums are in their early 50s and he's almost 9 so 44/45?

SalemSaberhagen · 22/08/2015 23:27

DM had DSIS aged 42. First month of trying too. Textbook pregnancy and delivery.

Billy has, not is please.

Eva50 · 22/08/2015 23:28

I was 42 when I had ds3. Two friends were 44 and 45 and my friends cousin was 50.

Peppasmate · 22/08/2015 23:28

I had dc6 at 40. Would love one more...

My aunt had her last baby at 43. Good friend had a surprise baby at 44.

Kathysclown · 22/08/2015 23:34

40 with first, 43 with second, both conceived naturally.

StrumpersPlunkett · 22/08/2015 23:34

Early 49's round here wouldn't cause a second glance
Oldest I have personally known was 46
Oldest pregnancy I have known was 49 but she sadly miscarried

theDudesmummy · 22/08/2015 23:36

I was the oldest I know personally; was a couple of months away from turning 46.

grapejuicerocks · 22/08/2015 23:40

44

10000Fireflies · 22/08/2015 23:40

Rippling chill out! 36 is so young to be TTC. See PPs for details!

Flottila · 22/08/2015 23:40

I had my first at 42 and I'm currently 18wks pregnant with my second. I'm 44. Natural conception. Hoping to squeeze another in by the time I'm 46.

junebirthdaygirl · 22/08/2015 23:44

Oldest 47.. Lovely healthy baby. Another at 46. Both mums first but both very fit and active always before that. Both thrilled and enjoying motherhood.

Bellebella · 22/08/2015 23:45

Know quite a few women who had children some their first child in their earlier 40s, I think the oldest was 44.

FuckOffJeffrey · 22/08/2015 23:47

I know a woman who had her second child at 46 and was through IVF.

I actually found most people (round these parts anyway) either have babies really early 16-20 or later in life - mid thirties to early 40's. Having a baby in your 20's appears to be less of a thing now.

I had DD at 26 and found no one my own age group at classes and toddler groups. Most of my mum friends are 10+ years older than I am. I have noticed a few people closer to my own age since DD has started school but not a majority by any stretch of the imagination.

I don't think 36 is too old.

ouryve · 22/08/2015 23:50

I had DS2 at 36. A friend the same age had 2 babies in the following 4 years.

ShadowsCollideIsSurroundedByAd · 22/08/2015 23:51

36 is definitely not too old! My sister is 35, her husband 37, and they are currently ttc their first. My Aunt was 42 when she had her second DC. Said DC is now 15, my Aunt still works three 13 hour days a week, has an amazing relationship with her children, and manages to have a great social life. She's my idol Grin.

My paternal Grandmother had her youngest at 48.

HeteronormativeHaybales · 22/08/2015 23:51

36? That's nothing.

I'm soon to give birth to no. 3 aged 38. Have two mid-late-primary-aged older ones already. I won't be having another (absolutely will terminate if I have an accident after this) but that's because 3's my personal limit, not because of age. Have a pregnant colleague who's 43.

HearTheThunderRoar · 22/08/2015 23:53

Friend of a friend had twins at 48 (conceived through IVF). She also had two teenagers.

3rdSymphony · 23/08/2015 00:02

Jesus, OP, calm down. I was 40, there were a 42- and a 43-year old in my NCT group. A friend was 46. Another friend is currently about to give birth to her first child at 44.

CremeEggThief · 23/08/2015 00:08

There was a woman in my first NQT group who had her first at 48 and I know a man, now well into his fifties, who says his mother was 50 when he was born.

CremeEggThief · 23/08/2015 00:08

Oops, NCT!

AcrossthePond55 · 23/08/2015 00:14

Although I never knew her, my paternal grandmother had her first at 22, her last at 52. 8 boys, 1 girl, and numerous miscarriages in-between. My maternal grandmother had her last at 42.

Amongst my friends, the oldest was mid-thirties.
