I'm 36 and would like to ttc around Christmas.

I've 2 dc but would love a third.

I don't think 36 is old now for a baby but then I scare myself by googling too much!

I was 38 with my 3rd - never been mistaken for ganny at the schools gates of anywhere else

My friends mum had her at 50!

KobblyKnees · 25/08/2015 22:29

Such a nice thread Smile. Had our last in my forties, but this thread is making me broody [grabs DH]

WyrdByrd · 25/08/2015 22:33

49 - don't know if it was assisted conception or not but she had a happy, healthy little boy.

My mum had me at 36, and I have several friends who had children between 38-42.

laffymeal · 25/08/2015 22:51

Friend was 46, it was her first and the result of a one night stand. They decided to make a go of it. They got married on her 60th birthday last year and ds is now 15.

Lookingforwardtoholiday · 26/08/2015 03:28

I had my last at 36 and certainly didn't feel old

MonkeyPJs · 26/08/2015 03:43

I know a few who were in their early 40s - 41, 42 and 43.

mathanxiety · 26/08/2015 05:04

47 - a friend. There is a 13 year age difference between her children.

I know of many women in my community who have had surprise babies in their 40s.

My last was born when I was 37.

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 26/08/2015 06:20

My mum was 44 when I was born. I was conceived naturally. My only sister is 16 years older than me. There were many miscarriages in between.
I gave birth to my DS (only child) two weeks shy of my 38th birthday. Sadly, neither of my parents were alive to meet their first grandchild.

BikeRunSki · 26/08/2015 06:23

40 and 9 months. She had a good 40th birthday!

PrancingQueen · 26/08/2015 07:05

I found myself pregnant at 44 (I'd never been madly broody).
I now have a fabulous 3 year old DS!

Floisme · 26/08/2015 07:32

I had my only child at 41. No complications.

As for the school gates thing - No I was never mistaken for a grandma - sadly. You could spot them a mile off at my child's school because they always looked so calm and pulled together. The rest of us looked like shit.

Dogsmom · 26/08/2015 08:23

I'm 40 and have a 6 month old snoozing happily beside me, she was conceived on the first attempt and my downs risk was even lower than my other daughter who was born when I was 37.
Both straight forward pregnancies and births other than dd1 being back to back.

Dh is 46 and has been asked/assumed to be their grandad. He is a bit wrinkly though!

CoteDAzur · 26/08/2015 08:28

The oldest mum I know had hers naturally at 47. I had DS at 38. Don't worry.

LittleMonkey1 · 26/08/2015 11:58

I'm 42 just had my first - all straight forward, tbh if it wasn't for the bump sticking out felt no different to usual.
no complications at all. thinking of a 2nd already - Go for it, sure it will all be fine Smile

FrenchJunebug · 26/08/2015 13:59

me conceived at 42 and gave birth at 43

Peaceloveandjammydodgers · 26/08/2015 22:03

My grandmother had her third child at 39, and this was in the 50s! DH's mother was 37 when she had him (her first) in the early 80s.
My own mother was 26 when she had me, which feels painfully young in comparison!
I wouldn't bat an eyelid at a 36 year old mother.

Indantherene · 26/08/2015 22:08

I was almost 44 when I had my last one. I was quite surprised to hear a former classmate had her 5th at 47.

flowerygirl · 26/08/2015 22:15

Personally, I knew a lady who had her second at 43 and wanted more children after that.

Anecdotally, my health visitor had a patient who had quads naturally at 45.

bugslife · 26/08/2015 22:16

Me, I was 43. When I tell people in their late 30s this they are encouraged to go for it!

wickedlazy · 26/08/2015 22:17

Personally 42. The child has downs syndrome. Next oldest, 40, no health problems.

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 26/08/2015 22:37

37/38

I had my two at 28 and 31 and although I'm the youngest of my "mum friends" they're all only 4 or 5 years older than me. The same goes for the multitude of baby groups I went to.

drinkscabinet · 26/08/2015 22:41

I have a work colleague who was born when his mother was 47, she thought he was the menopause.

At the DCs infants school it's completely normally for the parents to be in their 40s. Agree with others that there seems to be a split between those who have children very early and those who don't think about babies until their late 30s.

I have 3DC. All conceived very quickly at 36, 37 and 40 (got the BFP on my 41st birthday).

mrstweefromtweesville · 26/08/2015 22:47

My great-gran was 43 when she had my gran in 1909. My gran was her ninth child.

She'd had her first at seventeen, and discovered how babies got out by experiencing labour. Her babies were three years apart, which tells me she was long-term breastfeeding, and she brought all nine to adulthood, just to lose four ds, her dh and her dgd to tb one of the boys brought back from the trenches.

PowerPantsRule · 27/08/2015 00:20

I was 39 with me first and 44 with my second.

I am utterly and completely knackered. If I could do it again I would conceive at 18 and have three.

CarlaJones · 27/08/2015 00:29

My grandmother had my mum at 43.
