Do married couples actually have sex on wedding night?

julesldn · 20/08/2015 01:39

Ok so not exactly an AIBU question but...

myself (not married) and some unmarried friends are discussing whether couples actually have sex on their wedding night, or are they too drunk/tired/emotional to DTD?

Any insights welcome - we're curious!

We went to bed at six am so wedding night was well and truly over by then! So technically, did it the next day and nearly missed our flight to the Maldives we were so drunk and practically comatose.

trufflehunterthebadger · 21/08/2015 23:05

We did :)

JugglingFromHereToThere · 24/08/2015 10:36

We did. As a PP said we too have had better sex tbh
We were a bit knackered after a long, happy day
But it kind of had to be done. Or not. As you like!

modestmother · 24/08/2015 10:54

Of course! I was super excited to be married to the man of my dreams. Although the day was tiring I managed to get a little tipsy before we tango'd Blush

MissMooMoo · 24/08/2015 10:58

yes we did, I thought id be way too tired but dh convinced me to.
it was wonderful, had been together 8 years but it felt brand new if that makes sense.

WanderingLily · 24/08/2015 12:27

We didn't. I was 12 wks pregnant and knackered. I kept asking MrL when we could disappear so I suppose everyone else thought I was gagging for it. Did it the next morning though, and was interrupted by the maid bringing us our breakfast in bed.

pocketsaviour · 24/08/2015 14:29

Our reception finished about 3pm so we nipped upstairs to the hotel room for a shag and a nap. Got back up about 7pm and went out for Chinese food with two of our closest friend couples. Can't remember if we had another one after that.

LoveChickens · 24/08/2015 14:32

We didn't, too pissed and were quite high. We made up for it though!

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 24/08/2015 14:37

We did but had a lot better!
Had morning all day sickness which didn't help.

Raahh · 24/08/2015 14:46

We didn't- partly as too tired, and partly because ds (aged 4) and 8 month old dd1 were in the adjoining room (it was a suite). Ds woke up several times in the night, because his feet were hurting from dancingGrin. I'd also been up half the night before, as dd1 refused to sleep in the travel cot at granny's.

I may even have fallen asleep with half the hair clips still inBlush

We all nearly slept through breakfast. I regret that most, as a lot of my friends who had stayed over had already left to go home. It is the only thing I would change, waking up earlier. and the photographer, who was shit.

Made up for it though, as my fab sister had the dcs for us whilst we stayed in the Lakes for a couple of days. Which was lovely.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 24/08/2015 14:50

No, not here either - too tired, was 18w pg, very emotionally drained - had been up 18h by then as well so just wanted to sleep.

Kim82 · 24/08/2015 14:56

We were both pretty pissed but still managed to have sex.

ToTheGups · 24/08/2015 15:12

Yep we did, the earth didn't move but we had a go.

madamginger · 24/08/2015 15:13

We did, I'd bought new lingerie and wanted to use it Wink we've had better but it was the first time all day we'd seen each other alone.
The next day after we'd got home from the hotel, we were on the sofa dtd and my brand new mil walked in on us Blush

OliviaM91 · 24/08/2015 15:19

Yes and no. Just before we 'got going' I had left the bath running (it was a beautiful freestanding bath and one of the reasons we picked the venue). When I suggested we relocate to the bathroom I attempted to turn off the water, the tap came off in my hand and we ended up having to call down to reception.

Still mostly drunk, I sat with my dress unzipped on a chair as two burly men ran around the room (neither of whom were my new husband) trying to stop the bath from overflowing. We were moved to a cheaper smaller room and finished up there.

LetTheChipsFall · 24/08/2015 15:30

Hope, the next morning for us Smile

threenotfour · 25/08/2015 14:43

Yes. And it was memorable and special.

teacherwith2kids · 25/08/2015 14:50

No. I was well started on the asthma attack that nearly killed me a couple of days into our honeymoon...

ExConstance · 25/08/2015 15:38

We did - I thought it was obligatory

Summertimesadness1 · 25/08/2015 15:40

We did. I'd been awake for almost 20 hours, was exhausted and pissed and had just collapsed into bed. DH was adamant we should do it. I told him if he could get it in, he could go for it, but I wasn't moving if he couldn't. Oh the romance.

Glitterspy · 25/08/2015 16:49

Oh yes we did. Your new DH being the one getting you out of the dress is rather the point, isn't it?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 25/08/2015 17:22

Technically the next day as it was the early hours of the morning. We came to our honeymoon suite which was gorgeous, had a bath together with a glass of champagne and then dtd. It was perfect.

Junosmum · 25/08/2015 18:13

We were knackered. And he as drunk. And I had sooo many pins in my hair , took an age to get out. We had a cuppa, went to bed and did it in the morning.

bondjanebond · 25/08/2015 21:08

THREE times. Even though brand-new DH had sprained ankle & broken a finger (not diagnosed until next day) in dancing mishap! We got to 1st night hotel in jeans'n'jumpers, but there was another couple there still in full wedding regalia. She fell flat on her face on the stairs because he trod on her dress, and they had the most god-almighty row about it. Doubt he got his once, let alone thrice!GrinGrinGrin

AnotherShirtRuined · 25/08/2015 21:23

We didn't. The wedding was an all day affair (married around 10 am), and we were at home and in bed asleep at 10 pm. Also I was 6 months pregnant
