Seconding having met a very good friend on a similar messageboard (very large age range, mainly women). I can't see why not. Agree with best not to expect anything back, though. I take that tack with responding to an OP with personal experience, too.

yes, crochet squares. centre is cream, then 2 rounds of colour for each square

I was shown by my GM how to crochet years ago but can't do it now lack of practice and I'm so bad at knitting, the last time I tried knitting a pair of bootees the first one looked like a weird bent willy warmer. Needless to say, I don't bother now.

freeble there was a thread about finding friends and meeting up recently. I see if I can find it (or not if anyone else can find it) because I can't remember what the title was. You might have a better chance of finding someone local on it, as I garther a lot of the mnlocal boards have tumble weed in.
