Netmums VS Mumsnet

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

I was banned from NM as I was not able to comport myself in ladylike manner. This happened over a recipe.

ghostspirit · 10/08/2015 22:52

wonder how many members nm have lost to mn. or just lost in general guess it does not matter as there are always new members joining

TheoriginalLEM · 10/08/2015 22:58

netmums hurts my eyes and i can't navigate it.

MarchLikeAnAnt · 10/08/2015 23:02

Cuntworms* !!

TheoriginalLEM · 10/08/2015 23:05

ahh but it was worth it!

Pumpkinette · 10/08/2015 23:07

I just remembered something else. Every single thread started by admin links a bullshit Daily Mail article.

Murfles · 10/08/2015 23:21

I'm still pissed off they banned me for arguing over a McCain frozen baked potato via freshly cooked ones. Yeah, like I have time to bake a fucking potato in the oven in my non existent lunch break that I never get

OiledBegg · 10/08/2015 23:28

I was a member of NM's for a couple of years. Was a regular poster. There was a dark side to NMs. I remember about 7-8 years ago there was a kind of NM's alter-ego site set up where a few members all logged in and bitched openly about other members, their photos etc under pseudonyms. They had linked to the website via NM's. Some of the stuff I read was the most vile online bullying stuff I've ever seen and very personal. A lot of people reported the website and it was removed within a few hours. Since then I've not been on much, it was disgusting.
Much prefer MN, yes things can get heated but it's different somehow.

Murfles · 10/08/2015 23:30

potatogate

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/08/2015 23:31

WHAT IS A CUNTWORM?Shock Fecking thrush is enough to worry about now this? I might throw my hands in the air like a girly netmummer.

ghostspirit · 10/08/2015 23:37

begg i agree about the heated here it is different i dont know why really maybe i have just grown a thicker skin.

i did experiece some nastyness on nm from one poster who seemed to follow me and just get really nasty the block user button was useless because you would see other people responding to what she was saying so.

IAmLynetteScavo · 10/08/2015 23:39

I've been banned from NMs, "permanently" three times. Grin People just don't like to have the obvious stated. I like it here - I can say fuck and tell people they're being a dick when they are. Like normal, real life. Wahey!

Murloc · 10/08/2015 23:40

A friend of mine recommended NM when I was PG, but I mistyped and ended up here. So glad, I hate 'huns' and 'bubz' and all that glittery shite.

I don't see that friend any more now, either. Multiple reasons, but one of them was her prudishness over swearing. I'm like a docker; it was just never going to work out.

Sansarya · 10/08/2015 23:41

Hah Murfles, it didn't take long for the old "IT'S MY OPINION WHICH I'M ENTITLED TO" to come out there. When will people realise that although they may be entitled to an opinion, the rest of us are also entitled to disagree with it and tell them it's shit?

Murfles · 10/08/2015 23:44

I'd never seen so many people get annoyed about a frozen baked potato before. When Imread it back I remembered it was Charlotte that got me banned that I disagreed with. Ironic that her name was Charlotte on a potato thread really Grin

imwithspud · 10/08/2015 23:47

I'm a convert too. I didn't get banned from NM, but after a year or two of hanging around I was starting to get sick of how babied I felt being on there. Not being able to swear (not that I swear a lot but as a grown adult on an adult website I don't see why it wasn't allowed - ridiculous if you ask me), only being allowed to be 'supportive' with huns and hugs instead of giving solid and genuine advice, not being able to call people out on their shit when they're being complete asshats, the robotic admin team and the bitchy undertones from some members.

So I switched to MN and at first I found it a bit scary but after spending a bit of time browsing I soon realized this place was much more to my taste. I haven't been on NM for a good few months now nor do I have the inclination to. The discussions are a lot more varied and interesting and some threads and individual posters here have me howling with laughter at times, the general dry sense of humour on MN is right up my street. Never got any of that on nm's.

lemonade30 · 10/08/2015 23:49

I've never been to NM.

I was prolific (read famous) on baby centre though, which is basically a bunch of cliquey, pseudo intellectual cunts patting each other on the back and tearing strips from any 'newbs'.

I prefer MN. its inclusive (ish) and I can swear and take the piss all I like without a sex starved old harridan riding my arse because she's suitably dramatic.

Bambambini · 10/08/2015 23:51

Nm has some lovely pisters but is just so slow, nothing really gets discussed. The news section is dead, any news topics are usually started by the mods to try and get some debate going. There are a few creepy men who use the site trawling for someone to talk dirty too or to meet up with some of the possibly young single mums who might be a bit vulnerable. Many of the men would be chewed up and spat out if they appeared on Mn. Think one guy was spat out, Graham who thinks he's a playboy and really pisses me off - he really, really hates mumsnet.

The only attitude to Porn is that all men need it, especially to jack off, you're weird if you don't like it or hate the industry - seen a few women cone on upset that their partner uses porn or has been to acstrip club etc, only to be told they are being weird, ridiculous and controlling and should just lighten up and watch the porn and go along to the club too and stop being jealous and insecure (the only reasons you could ever be against it). I've been temporarily banned at times, surprised it's not been permanent.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/08/2015 23:51

march I can't get the clicky link to work, maybe that's not a bad thing Grin My imagination is in overdrive...

MarchLikeAnAnt · 10/08/2015 23:53

That's a pity Grin silly tablet wouldn't let me copy the image!

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 10/08/2015 23:54

Think one guy was spat out, Graham who thinks he's a playboy and really pisses me off

If I get a cuntworm I shall call him Graham. Maybe they'll be the new Minions'.

Bambambini · 10/08/2015 23:56

God, this completely! Saying you're entitled to your opinion seems to absolve you from any crap or vile views and makes you automatically right and above being challenged. Nope, your opinion can be wrong and just plain vile.
