Netmums VS Mumsnet

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

OP posts:

I never liked frub threads, can that be one point in the 'I'm not a thundercunt' column.

I've been on BC many years, just starting to outgrow it a bit now. Maybe it is different when you are on the outside looking in though.

The Secret Service Does Not Comment On Potatoes

lemonade30 · 11/08/2015 13:22

its different strokes ultimately LMS

I think a lot of over sharing occurs on BC. regulars know the minutiae of each others lives, what they look like, what their children look like, even what their home decor looks like.

we're more incognito around here which necessitates it being markedly less cliquey.

believe me I've been in the eye of the wyoo storm. not a pretty place.

there's a token male poster over on that board. he's about twenty six and all the regulars are practically falling over themselves to engage with/pm him. They get rather uppity if a newbie catches his eye. its hilarious, if pathetic.

that sort of shite just wouldn't happen on here.

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 11/08/2015 13:24

That wagging finger thing is just ... arrgh. It's so passive aggressive, and twee.

LittleMissStubborn · 11/08/2015 13:32

I'm a far too regular poster over there, so know all the posters mentioned. The over sharing is in sharp contrast to here and bizarrely it is getting some getting used to. I have never been on the wrong end of it thankfully.

I have never fawned over male posters though.

I have never posted a pic of me either cos I think I am ugly

VagelinaJolie · 11/08/2015 13:41

Wyoo, frub? It's a different language!
I like mn because of the humour, use of proper English, intelligence(mainly Wink )being able to use nn so you dont out yourself and the lack of ageism, disablism, homophobia et al, all of which I've seen on NM, that is ignored (tacitly approved of) by the mods. It is different strokes, but I'm happy here.
Scunthorpe-really?

Here's my opinion which I am entitled to so you can't say anything ner. I think you all stink of potato's

BunnyFint · 11/08/2015 13:50

WYOO BC's version of AIBU. It's called What's Your Opinion On?

Frub = Fanny rub, a way of showing how much you like another poster.

lemonade30 · 11/08/2015 14:10

vagelina there are many intelligent posters on BC. its not comparable to NM.

its a shame that BC often descends in to a competition to see who is the least judgemental/most sanctimonious/wholly sycophantic.

The intelligence of posters doesn't often positively correlate with their popularity on the wyoo board. "amusing" bitchy in jokes are the order of the day I'm afraid.

things are more authentic on MN. probably because its almost completely anonymised.

Ah I want to know who you are now, littlemiss.

Could've been worse TeaPlease, could've been goody ducker...

Sansarya · 11/08/2015 14:23

TeaPlease did that thread involve a name that began with a K and was from another culture but with the spelling altered to make it "yoonique"?

Netmums - no trying to be clever, sneering, putting people down, nastiness or superiority complex. But can't get a straight or honest answer.

Munsnet - wittier, funnier, swearier and more honest. Dare I say cleverer and more substance to it? Also nasty.

Sansarya · 11/08/2015 14:41

Yep, that's the one TeaPlease as I think I made a comment about NM too.

I would say but people may think I am horrible. I think it is easy to be sucked into that way of thinking.

I get annoyed by the least judgemental stuff going on too

Patapouf · 11/08/2015 15:29

I didn't know we were allowed to talk about the others

I agree that NM is vastly inferior I may or may not have been banned

At least here you can tell OPs when they are in the wrong/have some semblance of debate.
Although we have our fair share of racist twats, on the whole the average IQ of an MNer makes it a more pleasant place.

Patapouf · 11/08/2015 15:30

Also NM needs to learn you can be supportive without being arse-licky and you can criticise someone without being a bully.

VagelinaJolie · 11/08/2015 16:52

Their shock emoticon is better than MN's. Its more bug eyed. Its the face of someone who has just sat on a cucumber.
Is that sat on a cucumber accidentally or on purpose?
