Netmums VS Mumsnet

Samwelly · 10/08/2015 18:32

Mumsnet seems more controversial in content to me (well the AIBU section anyway). I previously enjoyed Netmums but find now that I hardly ever go on it. I prefer the "lively" sometimes abrasive discussions on Mumsnet.

NM have a board called The Serious Stuff which is actually pretty sad, and I think some of the things posted on there shouldn't be as they refer to court cases etc. I know it's more or less anonymous but still. And what's with those moderators who start each message with "Hello X, you said you xxx, you said you were going to xxx" - so patronising!

My God, the fun I could have if MN had a wagging finger!

Christinayanglah · 11/08/2015 09:35

Would it be the middle finger?"

BunnyFint · 11/08/2015 09:37

Ooh! I'm wondering who you were on BC, the Dramatic reference makes me think WYOO? I agree with you, BC is very cliquey, especially WYOO) the regulars deny it at every opportunity) They all join together in ripping into newbies and be quite nasty. I started out on BC, even had the displeasure of ad inning WYOO for a time, I ventured over here and never went back.

I've just had a gander at NM. My eyes! It reminds me of BC before the switch from bulletin boards to social networking. Too. Many. Tickers.

BunnyFint · 11/08/2015 09:38

*Adminning.

BunnyFint · 11/08/2015 09:42

Gah! I missed out who that post was meant for. lemonade

Have to say if potatogate is an example of a bunfight on NM I'm staying here. Although if anyone wagged a virtual finger at me I'd probably get banned within minutes for bad language....Angry

WoonerismSpit · 11/08/2015 09:52

Ooh bunny, who were you on BC? WYOO used to annoy the crap out of me.

lemonade30 · 11/08/2015 09:59

you adminned that bunch of disingenuous thundercunts?????

bunny I'm wondering who you were now too......Wink

I will never again darken the doorstep of wyoo. I've honestly never encountered such a bunch of sycophantic shite spouters in all of my life. I say this as a 'popular' poster Sad

(who were you?)

WoonerismSpit · 11/08/2015 10:02

Are you fairly recent lemonade? I posted a bit but I was more of a lurker.

BunnyFint · 11/08/2015 10:07

I did for my sins... To be fair it was funnier back then. I wouldn't want to now. Way too many thundercunts!

AlwaysOutnumberedNevrOutgunned · 11/08/2015 10:24

I consider netmums from time to time when a thread pops up from a google search but unfortunately am on a low hun diet (dr's orders) and have a severe allergic reaction to finger wagging glittery unicorn combinations which can only be assuaged by instant gin injection.

Kungfu, that didn't happen to be a site with the initials 'b & b' did it? Sounds very familiar.

Might have done! I can't remember the exact history of how it all happened, but it was all very acrimonious and complicated. And then the natural parenting board posters got banned en masse while I was on holiday and when I came back it was Not To Be Discussed.

ghostspirit · 11/08/2015 10:26

i want to know why its soooo easy to get banned. and why for life.get less for murder

lemonade30 · 11/08/2015 10:57

I was rather prolific on BC last year. Prior to the realisation that it was such a conformist, cliquey, often humourless place.

The politics threads were the only thing I stuck around for really.

lemonade I'm very intrigued now! I always liked Rose Wind's posts, but didn't get the fawning over her that would occur every time she posted.

WS rosewind was a nice woman with extensive scientific knowledge/Internet knowledge.
I never understood the fawning either really.

I also failed to get why bitter old cones such as dramatic and foofaloofah were permitted to reign supreme.

and frub threads. I mean come on, what the actual merry fuck was that all about?!?

I prefer it here where we're allowed to take the piss out of each other and ourselves with impudence Grin

CainInThePunting · 11/08/2015 12:17

Thank you for #potatogate, brightened up my morning!

This has got to be my favourite quote...
Charlotte can't help having strong feelings about potatoes. Let's be kind.

Any site that allows that waggly finger emoticon but bans swearing has got to be geared up to encourage passive aggression!

LittleMissStubborn · 11/08/2015 12:29

Eek hope I'm not one of the aforementioned thundercunts from BC.

BunnyFint · 11/08/2015 12:43

Ah 'frub threads' the threads where the 'we're not a clique, honest.. Bunch.' Would gather to seek validation and fawn over each other, whilst furiously hitting f5 to see if their status had increased. The higher the mention, the higher the status.

I don't get the RW love either. Way too much basking in arse sunshine every time she bends over posts.
