I know this sounds absolutely ridiculous - recently joined and have posted a few times but find it scary Blush .
I thought I was well-educated albeit a young mum, but reading some threads makes me feel scared Apprehensive to post .
I'm being silly aren't I?! Or do I belong on a certain other site instead haha!

So, on what vs pardon, where does 'I'm sorry, I didn't quite catch what you said' (my normal line) land me?

Ps welcome op. MN is marvellous. It's done me a whole load of good in the 11 (blimey) years I've been here, and hardly no harm.

ICantThinkOfAUsernameH · 09/08/2015 23:21

I'm loving reading all these comments Grin
I love gin fuckery
& when it comes to peter Andre I'm a secret fan Blush I'm often teased in RL for singing 'mysterious girl'

You're a fan of Mr Andre's. That's nice.

I've been on the 'other side' so to speak and I much prefer MN. I feel less babied here, you have a lot more freedom to say what you think. There's no ridiculous *ing of expletives for example. I can see the appeal of NM but MN definitely suits me better. It can be fucking brutal at times, but there's also a wealth of help and support available should you need it. I like a good balance of both personally.

I did find it a bit intimidating at first but once you dip your toe in and gradually start posting more (I've even posted a few of my own threads here and there), you start relaxing and finding yourself joining in more and more.

mehit has hit the nail on the head. Your entire family could be wiped out in an instant, but if your grammar is poor, you misspell something, or do not use paragraphs then it will all be your fault and you will get no sympathy. If you decide to set off those Chinese lanterns at funeral for the deceased family you will be accused of destroying the planet all by yourself

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2015 11:35

You are braver than me. I lurked for years before posting. It can be a bit scary. My grammar and punctuation can be a bit off and I find myself wondering how on earth I've managed to get DS to the age of 10 in one piece. I'm doing it all wrong according to MN.

Some posters get absolutely enraged by the oddest things but generally I'm amazed and encouraged by the number of strong, fiesty, intelligent women here. Some threads have me crying with laughter. Yes, I know it's not the done thing, but the wit and humour is the best.

And we can swear. I like swearing. That was the thing that called me over from the darkside!

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2015 11:37

I don't swear on here. Sweariing isn't compulsory. But don't say swear words with the asterisk in (ie c*nt) as people get the rage about it. swear properly or not at all. Grin

Once you realise that a lot of people seem to come on here just to be contrary, and once you realise that even more come on here to talk about the perfect life they wish they were actually living (while telling you off for not living it) then you can sit back and enjoy all the bullshittery.

You can normally dig out the nuggets of useful information with a bit of practice.

If you add the consistent tossers to your "ignore" list then it becomes even faster!

Sparklingbrook · 10/08/2015 11:49

No it fucking isn't Buffy.

HemanOrSheRa · 10/08/2015 11:50

Shock Sparkling

I feel like reporting my own post and getting it removed. Sad I don't do swearing. Blush

Lightbulbon · 10/08/2015 11:54

Yes some posters can be unnecessarily harsh.

Pick your battles.

Be careful not to drop feed.

Don't post when feeling sensitive.

And name change if it goes tits up and you get a hiding!

EygptianSnow · 10/08/2015 12:08

What does being educated have to do with it
